Day 1

Your guide will pick you up from Kigali in the morning for a scenic drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills toward Volcanoes National Park. The journey takes about 2–3 hours and offers beautiful views of Rwanda’s famous “land of a thousand hills.

Upon arrival, you check in at your lodge and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, you visit the nearby Iby'Iwacu Cultural Village for an authentic cultural experience. Here, you will learn about traditional Rwandan life through music, dance, storytelling, and demonstrations of local practices such as traditional medicine, hunting techniques, and food preparation.

Day 2

Golden Monkey Trekking & Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

After an early breakfast, you head to the park headquarters in Volcanoes National Park for a briefing before starting your golden monkey trek. You walk through the bamboo forests on the slopes of the Virunga Mountains in search of these lively and endangered primates.

Once located, you spend time observing and photographing the golden monkeys as they jump through the bamboo and forage for food. After the trek, you will return to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you transfer across the border into Uganda to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. You'll check in at your lodge and relax while enjoying views of the surrounding volcanoes.

After an early breakfast, you report to the park headquarters in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park for a briefing before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure. Accompanied by experienced guides and rangers, trek through the forest in search of the park’s habituated gorilla family.

Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one magical hour observing them as they feed, groom, and interact with each other in their natural habitat.

After the trek, you return to the hotel for lunch before transferring to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. You'll arrive in the evening and relax by the lakeside.

Yoou will enjoy a relaxed breakfast overlooking Lake Bunyonyi before heading out for a peaceful morning canoe experience. You'll glide across the calm waters in a traditional dugout canoe while exploring some of the lake’s islands and learning about their history and local legends.

After the canoe experience, you begin the scenic transfer back to Kigali, where your guide will drop you off at the airport or hotel, marking the end of your memorable Uganda and Rwanda primate safari.
