Your journey begins with a morning transfer from Arusha to Momella Gate in Arusha National Park, the starting point for your Mount Meru trek. After registration, you’ll meet your guide, porters, and an armed ranger who accompanies all treks due to wildlife presence.

The hike starts through open grasslands where you may spot giraffes, buffalo, zebras, and antelopes. As you ascend, the landscape transitions into lush montane forest, rich with birdlife and monkeys. The trail is steady and scenic, with occasional clearings offering views of Meru’s crater and surrounding plains.

After 4–6 hours of trekking, you’ll reach Miriakamba Hut (2,500m). Here you can relax, enjoy a warm meal prepared by your crew, and take in the peaceful forest surroundings. In the afternoon, you may take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,820m), which offers spectacular sunset views and helps prepare for the summit push. Return to the hut for an early dinner and rest, as you’ll begin your summit attempt in the early hours of the next day.
