Day 1

Begin your safari adventure from Maun, passing through Shorobe village en route to the Khwai Concession, a pristine wilderness of lagoons, channels, and grasslands bordering Moremi Game Reserve. Your guide will collect you from the Airport or your lodge, and the game drive begins once you cross the Buffalo fence. You'll stay in spacious Meru-style tents – complete with real beds, private verandas, and en suite bush bathrooms featuring a bucket shower, bush toilet, and canvas sink. Upon arrival, your camp is ready, allowing you to relax before heading out on an afternoon game drive in search of lion, leopard, wild dog, elephant, giraffe, and abundant birdlife. Wake to a light breakfast before setting off on an early morning game drive along the Khwai River, where guides share tracking skills, traditional plant uses, and Botswana’s rich history. The Khwai Concession also offers the chance to glide silently through the Okavango on a mokoro, photographing aquatic birds and lilies at eye level with the help of an expert poler. Later, experience the thrill of a night drive, seeking elusive nocturnal species such as aardvark, pangolin, and leopard. Stay in spacious Meru-style tents – complete with real beds, private verandas, and en suite bush bathrooms featuring a bucket shower, bush toilet, and canvas sink. Today, you break camp and cross the Khwai River to enter Moremi Game Reserve through North Gate, heading into the renowned Xakanaxa region. Your camp will already be set up, allowing you to settle in comfortably before exploring one of Botswana’s most celebrated wildlife areas. Stay in spacious Meru-style tents, with real beds, private verandas, and en suite bush bathrooms featuring a bucket shower, bush toilet, and canvas sink. Moremi offers superb game viewing, with excellent chances of encountering elephant, buffalo, giraffe, lion, leopard, hyena, jackal, and rare antelopes such as red lechwe and sitatunga. Wild dogs, seldom seen elsewhere, are regularly sighted here, alongside an incredible diversity of birdlife.

We begin with an early wake-up call for tea or coffee before setting off on a sunrise game drive through the enchanting Xakanaxa region of Moremi. Seasonal floodplains, lagoons, wooded islands, and riverine forests provide the backdrop for sightings of hippo, crocodile, leopard, lion, cheetah, wild dog, and antelope such as sable and waterbuck. Birdwatchers may spot the rare Slaty Egret among many other species. In the afternoon, enjoy a motorboat excursion across the Xakanaxa lagoon and channels, where hippos wallow, crocodiles bask, and elephants and buffalo gather at the water’s edge.
