Addis Ababa - Gondar - Simien Mountains (Sankaber Camp)

Your journey begins with a flight from Addis Ababa to Gondar, a former imperial capital known for its castles and rich history. Upon arrival, you will meet your driver and begin a scenic drive դեպի Simien Mountains National Park.
As the road climbs into the highlands, the landscape dramatically transforms into deep valleys, jagged peaks, and vast escarpments. After reaching Mechebign, you begin your first hike toward Sankaber campsite. This trail introduces you to the unique Afro-alpine environment, with chances to spot gelada baboons grazing peacefully along the cliffs.
Arrive at Sankaber camp, set on the edge of the escarpment, where you will enjoy sweeping sunset views over the valleys below. Overnight camping in the heart of the mountains.

Sankaber - Jinbar Waterfall - Chennek Camp

After breakfast, begin hiking along the escarpment edge, one of the most scenic sections of the Simien Mountains. The trail offers continuous panoramic views and passes through areas rich in endemic plant species.
You will hike toward the spectacular Jinbar Waterfall, where water plunges dramatically into a deep gorge. This is a perfect spot for rest and photography. After reaching the waterfall area, your vehicle will meet you and transfer you to Chennek campsite.
Chennek is located at a higher altitude and is one of the best վայրեր in the park to observe rare wildlife, especially the endangered Walia ibex. Overnight camping at Chennek under the clear mountain sky.

Chennek & Buhait Exploration - Gondar - Mekelle

Start the day with a morning hike around Chennek and toward the slopes of Buhait, the second-highest peak in the Simien range. This area is well known for its wildlife encounters, including Walia ibex, klipspringers, and possibly Ethiopian wolves.
After the hike, return by vehicle to Gondar and transfer to the airport for your flight to Mekelle.
Upon arrival in Mekelle, transfer to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed evening. Overnight stay in Mekelle.

Mekelle - Gheralta Mountains - Abune Yemata

Depart Mekelle and drive to the spectacular Gheralta Mountains, famous for their dramatic rock formations and ancient rock-hewn churches. Begin your hike to Abune Yemata Guh, one of the most iconic and adventurous sites in Ethiopia. The ascent involves scrambling over rocks and walking along narrow ledges, but the reward is extraordinary: a church carved into a cliff face with breathtaking views and centuries-old frescoes.
After descending, continue to your lodge in Gheralta. Overnight at a lodge surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.

Gheralta Trek - Mariam Korkor (Camping)

Today’s trek takes you deeper into the Gheralta region toward Mariam Korkor. The hike passes through remote landscapes, traditional villages, and sandstone cliffs glowing in warm colors.
The climb to Mariam Korkor rewards you with one of the most spectacular panoramic viewpoints in northern Ethiopia. From here, you can see vast plains stretching far into the distance.
Enjoy a peaceful sunset from the high plateau before settling into your campsite. Overnight camping in a serene and remote setting.

Return to Addis Ababa

After breakfast, descend and drive back to Mekelle. Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Addis Ababa.
