Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive north via the central highlands, passing through changing landscapes from lush farmland to the drier northern frontier.
Arrive at Samburu in time for lunch at your lodge or camp.

In the afternoon, proceed for your first game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River, the lifeline of the reserve, where elephants, crocodiles, and other wildlife are commonly sighted.
