Day 1

Your journey into the Okavango Delta begins in Maun, where you are welcomed and assisted onto a light aircraft flight into the Khwai region. As you fly over the Delta, a network of shimmering waterways, islands, and floodplains unfolds beneath you — a breathtaking introduction to one of Africa’s most iconic safari destinations.

Landing at the airstrip, you are met by your guide and transferred to Sable Alley Camp. The camp is set along a lagoon system that attracts an abundance of wildlife, particularly elephants.

After settling into your tented suite, you enjoy lunch and some time to relax before heading out on your first afternoon game drive. The area is known for its excellent wildlife density.

Our first full day in the Delta begins early, with a wake-up call and light breakfast before heading out on a morning game drive.

The Khwai region is known for its diverse habitats, from open floodplains to wooded areas, each supporting different wildlife species. Your guide will interpret the environment, tracking animals and explaining their behavior, providing a deeper understanding of the ecosystem.

After a final morning activity at Sable Alley, you depart for Lagoon Camp in the Kwando region. The transfer itself is an experience, offering changing scenery and opportunities to spot wildlife along the way.

Arriving at Lagoon Camp, you are welcomed into a region known for its strong predator presence and dynamic wildlife interactions. The Kwando concession is less crowded, offering a more exclusive safari experience.

After settling in and enjoying lunch, you head out on your first afternoon game drive. The area is particularly renowned for lions and wild dogs, and your guide will focus on areas where recent sightings have been reported.

Today is dedicated to exploring the Kwando concession in depth. The day begins with an early morning game drive, when wildlife is most active. The region is known for its predator-prey interactions, and you may witness lions tracking buffalo or wild dogs on the move.

The varied landscapes from river channels to open plains provide diverse game viewing opportunities. Your guide will tailor the day based on wildlife activity, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience.

After returning to camp for brunch, you have time to relax before heading out again in the afternoon. Depending on seasonal water levels, a boat safari may be offered, providing a unique perspective as you glide past hippos, crocodiles, and elephants along the riverbanks.

Shinde Footsteps is a walking-focused camp, offering a closer connection to the environment. Upon arrival, you settle in and enjoy lunch before being introduced to the walking safari concept.
