Arrival into Antananarivo

Arrive in Antananarivo, where your family will be met and transferred to Nosy Manga Hotel for your first night in Madagascar. This is deliberately an easy beginning to the journey, giving everyone time to settle in after the international flight before travelling east towards the rainforests of Andasibe the following morning.

Andasibe and Mantadia National Parks

Travel east to Andasibe for three nights at Mantadia Lodge, surrounded by the rainforest landscapes that make eastern Madagascar so rewarding for families.

Explore the forests with experienced local guides in search of indri, Madagascar’s largest living lemur, whose remarkable calls carry through the canopy. Look for other lemur species, colourful chameleons, frogs, birds and the smaller creatures that make Madagascar unlike anywhere else. Guided walks bring the forest to life, while an evening walk offers the excitement of searching for nocturnal wildlife after dark.

Three nights gives your family two full days to explore without rushing, with enough variety to keep younger travellers engaged and time between activities to relax at the lodge.

Akanin'ny Nofy

Leave Andasibe and continue towards the Pangalanes Canal before travelling by boat to Palmarium Reserve for two nights. The journey itself changes the pace, replacing the road with waterways as you travel through one of eastern Madagascar’s most distinctive landscapes.

Explore the reserve on foot in search of its resident lemurs and other wildlife, with local guides helping children and adults alike discover the extraordinary plants and animals around them. The setting feels very different from Andasibe, with forest, lake and waterways creating another side to Madagascar’s natural world.

Two nights is enough time to enjoy Palmarium without continually moving on, while the boat journey and accessible wildlife encounters add another layer of adventure for families.

Saint Marie Island

Continue to Sainte Marie for three nights at Princesse Bora Lodge & Spa, where rainforest exploration gives way to the Indian Ocean. Settle into a slower rhythm beside the beach, with time for the whole family to relax after the wildlife adventures of the previous days.

Swim, explore the coast, take to the water or simply enjoy time around the lodge and beach. Depending on the season, whale watching may also be possible as humpback whales migrate through the waters around Sainte Marie.

Three nights gives you two complete days on the island, providing genuine downtime without turning the beach into a brief add on. The comfort and setting of Princesse Bora make this a particularly relaxed finale to the family adventure.

Return to Tana
