Day 1
6:00am head to the park, Meet your researchers and rangers at the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a safety briefing on forest etiquette and what to expect from semi-habituated groups. Then enter the forest You’ll witness the spectacular "de-nesting" as they wake up, stretch, and descend from the canopy.
Morning:
This is the most active time. You'll follow the group through the undergrowth as they hunt for fruit, groom one another, and communicate through loud "pant-hoots" and drumming on tree buttresses.
Midday:
As the heat intensifies, chimps often descend to the forest floor to rest or nap in the shade. This is when you’ll enjoy your own packed lunch (brought from your lodge) while keeping a respectful distance.
Afternoon:
The group may begin moving again to find new food sources. You’ll observe mothers nursing their young and juveniles playing—behaviors rarely seen on shorter one-hour treks.
The day ends as the chimpanzees select sturdy branches to weave fresh nests for the night.
