Day 1
Pick up from your hotel in Fort Portal, head to the park, Meet your researchers and rangers for a safety briefing on forest etiquette and what to expect from semi-habituated groups. Then enter the forest You’ll witness the spectacular "de-nesting" as they wake up, stretch, and descend from the canopy.
Morning:
This is the most active time. You'll follow the group through the undergrowth as they hunt for fruit, groom one another, and communicate through loud "pant-hoots" and drumming on tree buttresses.
Midday:
As the heat intensifies, chimps often descend to the forest floor to rest or nap in the shade.
Afternoon:
The group may begin moving again to find new food sources. You’ll observe mothers nursing their young and juveniles playing—behaviors rarely seen on shorter one-hour treks.
The day ends as the chimpanzees select sturdy branches to weave fresh nests for the night. Our guide will be waiting for you to drive you back to your hotel at the end of the activity.
