Day 1

From the City to the Wild - Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve

From the City to the Wild - Nairobi to Maasai Mara National Reserve

Your safari begins at 8:00 am with a pick-up from your Nairobi hotel. Meet your fellow travellers and your experienced guide as you board your shared 4x4 safari vehicle — maximum seven guests — and head west out of the city toward the greatest wildlife reserve on earth. The drive takes you through the sweeping Maasai plains of Narok county, with your guide sharing stories of the land and its people as the savannah opens up around you. Arrive at Mara Ntulele Camp in time for a warm welcome and lunch, then check in and settle into your tented accommodation overlooking the Mara ecosystem. At 3:30 pm your first game drive rolls out onto the endless plains — and the Mara never disappoints on day one. Lions, elephant, zebra, buffalo and giraffe are commonly spotted within the first hour. Watch the sun sink behind the horizon before returning to camp for dinner around the fire and overnight.

Full-Day game Drive with Picnic lunch

Rise before dawn and head straight into the reserve as first light breaks across the savannah. This is the Maasai Mara at its most electric — lions returning from a night hunt, cheetah scanning the open plains, elephant herds moving silently through the golden grass. Your guide works the reserve's prime zones all morning — the Mara River where crocodiles wait in the shallows, the Musiara Swamp teeming with hippo, and the open Triangle where the big cats rule. At midday your guide sets up a full picnic lunch in the heart of the park — tables, chairs and a proper meal served in the open bush with nothing but the Mara around you. The afternoon drive continues straight from lunch as predators stir and herds gather at the water. Sundowners on the plains as the sky turns amber, then return to Mara Ntulele for dinner under the stars.

Rift Valley bound - Maasai Mara to Lake Nakuru

After breakfast your guide loads the vehicle and you bid farewell to the Mara, heading north through the dramatic Great Rift Valley escarpment toward Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive winds through sweeping highland scenery, Maasai settlements and rolling farmland as the landscape shifts from golden savannah to lush green hills. Stop for lunch en route before continuing to the park. Arrive at Buraha Zenooni Lodge in the mid-afternoon — check in, change into your swimwear and take the rest of the day entirely at your own pace. Swim in the pool, relax on the terrace with views over the park canopy, or simply sit back and let the Rift Valley air do its thing. Tonight belongs to you. Dinner and overnight at the lodge as the sounds of the African night take over.

Nakuru to Amboseli - Giant elephants and Mount kilimanjaro

Rise early for a morning game drive inside Lake Nakuru National Park — Kenya's celebrated rhino sanctuary delivering both black and white rhino, lion, leopard, Rothschild giraffe, thousands of flamingos and African fish eagles in one breathtaking circuit. At 9:00 am return to the lodge for breakfast then load up the vehicle and begin the drive south. Stop for lunch at the shores of Lake Naivasha — one of the Rift Valley's most beautiful lakes, where hippos wallow at the water's edge and fish eagles call overhead. A peaceful midday break before the road continues south toward Amboseli. Cross into Maasai country as the landscape opens into wide dusty plains and Kilimanjaro begins to reveal itself on the horizon. Arrive at Manjaro Tented Camp before 6:00 pm, check in and settle into your tent as the mountain glows in the last light of the day. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Elephants and Mount kilimajaro Views

Rise before the sun and head straight into the park — Amboseli's finest hour. Kilimanjaro stands fully revealed above the clouds as elephant families move through the swamps in their hundreds, close enough to hear their calls and feel the ground shake beneath their feet. This is the world's greatest park for elephant viewing up close, and your guide knows these herds intimately. Stop mid-morning for a bush breakfast set against the mountain before continuing through Amboseli's prime wildlife zones — the Enkongo Narok swamp, the observation hill, and the open plains where lion, cheetah, zebra, buffalo, hippo and giraffe all share the same extraordinary stage. Return to Manjaro Tented Camp for lunch and a midday rest, then back out at 3:30 pm as the afternoon game drive delivers one final round of golden-hour sightings. Sundowners with Kilimanjaro as your backdrop. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Amboseli to Nairobi

Wake before sunrise for one final early morning game drive — Amboseli puts on a show every single morning and today is no different. Elephant herds move across the swamps as Kilimanjaro burns orange above them in the first light, a sight that never gets old no matter how many times your guide has seen it. After the morning drive return to Manjaro Camp for a full breakfast, pack your bags and load the vehicle for the drive back to Nairobi. The road north passes through Maasai country, red-soil plains and the outskirts of the capital before delivering you to your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the early afternoon.
