Begin in Cape Town

Spend your days discovering Cape Town according to your family’s interests. Take the cableway up Table Mountain when the weather is clear, explore the V&A Waterfront or head around the Cape Peninsula towards Cape Point and the penguins at Boulders Beach. There is plenty to see, but four nights means there is no need to rush.

Adventure on the Whale Coast

Leave Cape Town and travel along the coast towards Stanford for three nights at Coot Club, set between the water, mountains and fynbos of the Overberg. After the energy of Cape Town, these days deliberately slow the pace and give everyone time outdoors.

Days can be shaped around the lagoon and surrounding landscape, with opportunities for boating, walking, cycling and exploring the natural environment, alongside plenty of time simply to relax. The emphasis is less on sightseeing and more on enjoying where you are.

Three nights gives families time to settle in rather than treating the Overberg as another quick stop, creating a relaxed middle chapter before continuing into the Winelands.

Explore the Winelands

Continue into the Cape Winelands for two nights at Boschendal, a historic farm estate surrounded by mountains, vineyards and open countryside. For families, its appeal extends far beyond wine, with space to explore, farm experiences, walking and cycling alongside excellent food and beautiful surroundings.

Spend these days at an easy pace, choosing activities that suit your family rather than following a fixed sightseeing programme. Adults can enjoy the food and wine for which the region is known, while the estate provides plenty of freedom and interest for younger travellers.

Two nights provides a taste of the Winelands without allowing the journey to become too busy before you fly north for safari.

Safari in the Welgevonden

Fly north for four nights at Tintswalo Waterberg, where the journey changes pace again as your family begins its safari. Set within the malaria free Waterberg, this is an excellent introduction to the African bush, combining wildlife encounters with the comfort and space of a luxury lodge.
