Day 1
Mombasa to Tsavo West Np
Mombasa to Tsavo West Np
You’ll leave Mombasa early in the morning, driving along the Mombasa–Nairobi highway toward Tsavo West, a journey of about 4–5 hours with scenic views of the dry savannah gradually replacing the coastal greenery. You should arrive at Tsavo West National Park in time for lunch at your lodge, followed by some rest before heading out for an afternoon game drive. This park is known for its dramatic landscapes—lava flows, rolling hills, and iconic features like Mzima Springs where you can often see hippos and crocodiles in crystal-clear water. Expect sightings of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, and possibly lions as the sun sets. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight surrounded by the sounds of the wild.

Day 2
Taita Hill Wildlife Sanctuary
Taita Hill Wildlife Sanctuary
After an early breakfast, you’ll enjoy a short morning game drive in Tsavo West before departing for Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a smaller but wildlife-rich reserve about 2–3 hours away. Arriving around midday, you’ll check into your lodge—many of which overlook waterholes that attract animals throughout the day. After lunch, head out for an afternoon game drive across the sanctuary’s rolling hills and open plains, where you may spot elephants, zebras, antelopes, and big cats. The landscape here is greener and more compact compared to Tsavo, making wildlife easier to spot. In the evening, return to your lodge for dinner, and if available, enjoy a night game drive for a chance to see nocturnal animals.

Wake up early for a final sunrise game drive in Taita Hills, taking in the cool morning air and one last chance to see wildlife at its most active. After breakfast, you’ll begin the journey to Watamu, which is a longer drive (around 6–7 hours) passing through Mombasa and continuing north along the coast. The transition from savannah back to palm-lined beaches is striking, and you’ll arrive in Watamu by late afternoon or early evening. This marks the end of your safari, where you can unwind on white sandy beaches or explore nearby attractions like Watamu Marine National Park.
