In the afternoon, continue to nearby villages to experience traditional Tigrayan culture and local hospitality. End the day with an overnight stay in Mekelle while enjoying traditional Ethiopian food and music.

Gheralta Mountains and Cliff Churches

Drive toward Wukro to discover more of Tigray’s hidden architectural treasures. Visit Wukro Chirkos Church, a beautifully carved rock-hewn church believed to date back to the 4th century. Continue your journey to smaller rural monasteries where you can observe traditional Ethiopian Orthodox worship practices. Enjoy the scenic countryside filled with rugged mountains, terraced farms, and ancient stone villages. Return to your accommodation in the evening and enjoy a quiet night reflecting on the spiritual history of the region.

Drive Hawzen – Mekele – Fly Addis

This day you will drive to Mekele in order to catch your flight to Addis. In the evening attend a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia. The traditional coffee ceremony will also be served. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
