Day 1

Your driver guide from Iriza Tours & Safaris will pick you up from the airport or hotel for a short Kigali city tour. Visit local craft markets and the Kigali Genocide Memorial before beginning the scenic drive toward Nyungwe National Park.

Along the journey, stop at the King’s Palace Museum and enjoy lunch in Butare before continuing through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside to Nyungwe. Arrive at your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 2

Chimpanzee Trekking and Nyungwe Canopy Walk

Chimpanzee Trekking and Nyungwe Canopy Walk

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe Forest. Trek through one of Africa’s oldest rainforests in search of chimpanzees while spotting birds and other primates along the way.

After lunch, continue with the famous Nyungwe canopy walk suspended high above the forest. The experience offers incredible views across the rainforest canopy and a unique perspective of Nyungwe’s wildlife and landscapes.

Day 3

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Following breakfast, depart Nyungwe and travel north toward Volcanoes National Park. The drive offers spectacular views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, tea plantations, and Lake Kivu along the way.

After lunch, visit the beautiful Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo located near the volcanoes before heading to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 4

Gorilla Trekking and Gorilla Guardians Village

Begin the day with an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters in Kinigi for a briefing on gorilla trekking guidelines. You will then enter the forest with guides and rangers to track one of the habituated mountain gorilla families.

The trek can take several hours depending on the gorillas’ movements, but the experience of standing a few meters away from these gentle giants is unforgettable. After the trek, return to the lodge to relax before visiting the Gorilla Guardians Village for a cultural experience featuring traditional Rwandan dance, music, and local traditions.

After breakfast, head back to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your golden monkey trekking experience in the bamboo forests of Volcanoes National Park.

Watch these playful and energetic primates move through the forest while learning about their unique behavior and habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge, check out, and drive back to Kigali where you will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel, marking the end of your Rwanda primates safari.
