Pick up from Kigali and transfer to Akagera National Park for a wildlife experience in Rwanda’s only savannah park. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, and big cats. Later, take a relaxing boat cruise on Lake Ihema for sightings of hippos, crocodiles, and numerous bird species. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 2

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Start the day with an early morning game drive in Akagera National Park to catch wildlife at its most active hours. The park’s beautiful landscapes and diverse habitats provide excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing. After the game drive, exit the park and proceed towards Uganda, crossing through the Cyanika border into western Uganda.

Continue the journey to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park yet one of the most scenic and peaceful wildlife destinations. Arrive in the evening and check in at the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and overnight while enjoying views of the surrounding acacia woodlands and rolling hills.

After breakfast, head out for a guided walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. This unique experience offers close encounters with zebras, impalas, giraffes, elands, and other wildlife while exploring the park on foot alongside an armed ranger guide. The park is also known for its rich birdlife and beautiful landscapes.

Later, depart Lake Mburo and continue northwards through scenic countryside, tea plantations, and local villages towards Kibale National Park. Arrive in the evening and check in at the lodge located near the rainforest. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the chimpanzee tracking adventure the following day.

After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering Kibale Forest for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale is home to the highest concentration of primates in East Africa, and the tracking experience offers opportunities to encounter chimpanzees in their natural habitat alongside other monkey species and forest birds.

After the trek, enjoy lunch and proceed for the Bigodi Swamp Walk, a community-based wetland sanctuary famous for birds, monkeys, and unique vegetation. Later, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s most visited savannah park, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.

Rise early for a morning game drive through the Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This area is well known for its large populations of Uganda kobs which attract predators such as lions and leopards. Other animals commonly seen include elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, and hyenas.

In the afternoon, enjoy a memorable boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. The cruise offers excellent opportunities to view hippos, crocodiles, elephants, buffaloes, and countless bird species gathering along the water banks. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Following an early morning briefing from park rangers, begin the gorilla trekking adventure through Bwindi’s dense forest trails. The trek can take several hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family, but the experience of encountering mountain gorillas in the wild is truly unforgettable. You will spend one magical hour observing their behavior, interactions, and feeding habits.

After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch before crossing into Rwanda and proceeding to Volcanoes National Park. Arrive in the evening and check in at the lodge with views of the Virunga Volcanoes.
