Dar es Salaam - Nyerere National Park

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam. Drive south through rural Tanzania, passing local villages, farms and beautiful countryside landscapes. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch and some relaxation. In the afternoon, enjoy an optional boat safari on the mighty Rufiji river, one of the highlights of Nyerere National Park. Cruise along the river while spotting large pods of hippos, Nile crocodiles basking on the river banks and a variety of birdlife including fish eagles, kingfishers, herons and bee-eaters. The sunset over the Rufiji river creates a spectacular backdrop for photography. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Full day in Nyerere National Park

After an early breakfast, depart with packed lunch boxes for a full day game drive. Explore different sections of the park as your guide searches for wildlife in the diverse habitats of woodlands, grasslands, lakes and river systems. Nyerere is also one of the few places in Africa where visitors may be fortunate enough to see the endangered African Wild dog. Enjoy a picnic lunch at a designate site within the park before continuing your wildlife viewing adventure. Return to camp in the late afternoon. Spend the evening relaxing around the camp before dinner.

Depature

Wake up early for a guided nature walk accompanied by an armed ranger. This activity offers a unique opportunity to experience the African bush on foot while learning about animal tracks, plants, insects and the ecosystem. Return to the lodge for breakfast and check out. Begin the drive back to Dar es Salaam, enjoying scenic views of rural Tanzania along the way. Arrive in the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel or airport.
