Your birding journey begins with an early morning departure from Nairobi, heading northwest through the breathtaking Great Rift Valley. Along the way, you will enjoy scenic stops at viewpoints where you can admire the escarpment and watch birds of prey gliding high on the morning air currents.

On arrival in Nakuru, you will check in at Lanet Matfam Resort Limited and have lunch before heading into Lake Nakuru National Park for your first afternoon birding and wildlife experience.

As the day comes to an end, enjoy the golden sunset over the lake before exiting the park and returning to Lanet Matfam Resort Limited for dinner and overnight stay.

Lake Nakuru – Lake Elementaita

Begin the day with an early morning game drive, taking advantage of the cooler hours when wildlife activity is at its peak. Return to the resort for breakfast and some time to freshen up before check-out.

After breakfast, depart for Lake Elementaita, a tranquil alkaline lake nestled within the scenic landscapes of Kenya’s Great Rift Valley. Upon arrival, check in at Epashikino Resort and enjoy a leisurely lunch, followed by a short period of relaxation.

In the afternoon, set out on a guided birding excursion along the lake shores and surrounding acacia woodlands. Lake Elementaita is renowned for its exceptional birdlife, hosting a diverse range of species including flamingos, pelicans, stilts, herons, various raptors, and numerous woodland birds. As the afternoon transitions into evening, observe increased bird activity along the shoreline, enhanced by the warm golden hues of the setting sun.

Return to Epashikino Resort for dinner and overnight stay.

Lake Elementaita – Maasai Mara

Begin the day with an early morning bird walk around Lake Elementaita.

After the walk, return for breakfast, check out, and begin your journey to the Maasai Mara. The drive takes you through scenic rural landscapes, rolling hills, and traditional villages that give you a glimpse of everyday life in Kenya.

Arrive at Enchoro Wildlife Camp in time for check-in, lunch, and relaxation. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in the Maasai Mara.

Return to camp in the evening for dinner and a relaxing night.

Today is dedicated to a full exploration of the Maasai Mara ecosystem. After an early breakfast, depart with packed lunch for a full-day safari across different habitats within the reserve.

Enjoy a picnic lunch in the wild, surrounded by nature and the sounds of the savannah. Throughout the day, your guide will help you spot and identify birds while also tracking wildlife such as elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, and large herds of plains game.

In the late afternoon, return to camp for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, check out and begin your journey back to Nairobi. The drive takes you once again through the scenic Great Rift Valley, offering time to reflect on the incredible variety of birds, landscapes, and wildlife experienced during the trip.

You will arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon, marking the end of your memorable birding safari through Kenya’s Rift Valley lakes and the iconic Maasai Mara.
