Day 1

Arrive in Cape Town, Commodore Hotel

Arrive in Cape Town, Commodore Hotel

On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, a private transfer will be waiting to take you to the Commodore Hotel, located directly adjacent to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. The hotel is one of Cape Town's most reliably well-positioned properties, within easy walking distance of the waterfront's restaurants, shops, and the Robben Island ferry terminal.

Rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, decorated in a nautical theme that suits the harbour setting. Superior Rooms offer queen or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, minibar, tea and coffee facilities and satellite TV. Executive Rooms on the upper floors add private balconies with views of Table Mountain, Robben Island or Signal Hill — well worth the upgrade for a first Cape Town visit.

The Clipper Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with views of the pool, and the Admiralty Bar is a pleasant spot to wind down after arrival.
The hotel also has a pool, gym, sauna, steam room and spa.

Day 2-3

Cape Town at Leisure

Cape Town at Leisure

Cape Town rewards those who explore at their own pace. The V&A Waterfront, a short walk from the hotel, is the natural starting point - a working harbour with excellent restaurants, the Two Oceans Aquarium, the Zeitz MOCAa contemporary art museum and the Robben Island ferry all within easy reach.

Table Mountain is an essential visit on a clear day; the revolving cable car takes approximately five minutes and the views from the top are exceptional in all directions. The Atlantic Seaboard - Camps Bay, Clifton and Sea Point - is a short drive or taxi ride from the hotel and offers some of the most dramatic coastal scenery in the country.

The Cape Winelands are easily reached for a half-day or full-day excursion, with Stellenbosch and Franschhoek both approximately 45 minutes from Cape Town. We can assist with reservations and guided excursion arrangements throughout your stay.

Day 4

Shared Cape Peninsula Tour

Shared Cape Peninsula Tour

Today you join a shared guided tour of the Cape Peninsula, a full day that covers some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in South Africa.

The route heads south from Cape Town along the Atlantic Seaboard, passing through Hout Bay before joining Chapman's Peak Drive, a 9-kilometre cliff-hugging road with views across the ocean that is one of the great scenic drives of the Western Cape.

From there the tour continues into the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, where zebra, baboon and various antelope roam freely. Cape Point itself sits at the south-western tip of the Peninsula; the climb to the lighthouse, on foot or by funicular, rewards with views in every direction across open ocean.

The afternoon brings a visit to Boulders Beach in Simon's Town, home to a resident colony of African penguins that can be observed at close quarters from the boardwalk. The tour returns to Cape Town via the False Bay coastline, passing through Kalk Bay and Muizenberg before drop-off at the hotel.

Fly to Hoedspruit, Arrive at Elephant Plains Game Lodge, Sabi Sand

A transfer will take you to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Hoedspruit. On arrival at Hoedspruit Airport, a private transfer will be waiting to take you to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve for your stay at Elephant Plains Game Lodge.

Rooms are traditional rondavels set in the beautifully landscaped gardens of the original family holiday camp, comfortable, well suited to the bush environment, and still carrying something of the old bushveld charm that the property was built on.

Each rondavel has a sundeck, en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, overhead fan, minibar, tea and coffee facilities, mosquito nets and an electronic safe. An upgrade to the luxury suites is available on request.

Elephant Plains is situated on the dry Manyeleti riverbed in the northern Sabi Sand, and the main lodge looks out over an open area and waterhole. The main area houses the reception, dining room, bar, lounge, wine cellar, library and curio shop, with two swimming pools, a gym and a games room.

Day 6-7

Game Drives in the Sabi Sand

Game Drives in the Sabi Sand

Your first full day begins before sunrise with an early morning game drive as the bush comes to life. Head out in open vehicles with your dedicated ranger and tracker, covering the Sabi Sand's unfenced wilderness that connects directly to Kruger National Park.

The surrounding riverine and dense bush habitat is excellent leopard country - sightings here are among the most consistent in Africa. The Big Five are all well represented, with elephant, lion, buffalo and rhino regularly encountered alongside a wide variety of plains game. Wild dog and cheetah are also present in the broader ecosystem and always worth watching for. Each drive is about three hours, with a coffee stop on the morning drive. Return to camp for breakfast and a midday rest before heading out again as the afternoon light softens. In the evening, your ranger will find a suitable spot to enjoy sundowners in the reserve before tracking nocturnal animals by spotlight on the return to camp.
