Nairobi / Naro Moru Gate / Met Station

Please arrive at Tearoom Bus Station in Nairobi by 6:00 am to meet your guide and fellow trekkers before boarding the public transport to Naro Moru Town. On arrival, transfer to Naro Moru Gate for registration and begin your trek through the beautiful montane forest of Mount Kenya National Park. The trail gradually ascends through indigenous forest with opportunities to spot monkeys and a variety of bird species. After approximately 10 km and 3 to 4 hours of trekking, arrive at Met Station Hut (3,000m). Relax, enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and spend your first night in the mountain hut as you prepare for the higher elevations ahead.

Met Station / Mackinder's Camp

After breakfast, continue your ascent through the famous Vertical Bog before emerging into the spectacular alpine moorland. As the scenery changes, giant lobelias and groundsels dominate the landscape while impressive views of Teleki Valley and Mount Kenya's rugged peaks unfold. Your experienced guides will maintain a steady pace with regular breaks to support acclimatization. After approximately 10 km and 5 to 6 hours of trekking, arrive at Mackinder's Camp Hut (4,200m). Enjoy a hot dinner, rest well and receive a briefing for the early morning summit attempt.

Mackinder's Camp / Point Lenana / Met Station / Nairobi

Your summit day begins at approximately 3:00 am. Using headlamps, ascend steadily to Point Lenana (4,985m) and reach the summit at sunrise. Celebrate your achievement while taking in spectacular views of Batian, Nelion and the surrounding landscapes. Descend to Mackinder's Camp for a well deserved breakfast before continuing to Met Station for lunch. Afterwards, transfer to Naro Moru Town and board the public transport back to Nairobi. The trip concludes at Tearoom Bus Station, where you can continue with your onward travel arrangements.
