Midday: Check out and point the vehicle west. The landscape shifts—green gives way to scrub and volcanic rubble. At Chyulu Gate, you enter Tsavo West, and soon the road delivers you to the Shetani Lava Flow: a jagged, obsidian sea of cooled rage, stretching silent and black under the fierce sun. Walk a few steps on its cracked surface—feel the ancient fire still sleeping beneath.

Midday: Picnic beneath the shadow of Mudanda Rock, a massive whale-backed outcrop where water seeps from ancient cracks.
