Your safari begins with a pick-up from Entebbe or Kampala and a scenic drive towards southwestern Uganda. Travel through changing landscapes, passing local communities, farms and rolling countryside. Stop at the Equator for photographs and a short break before continuing towards the dramatic highlands of southwestern Uganda. Day 2

Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Experience

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering Bwindi’s ancient rainforest. Follow experienced trackers through the dense vegetation as you search for a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take several hours depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you find them, spend a precious hour observing their behaviour, family interactions and movements in their natural environment. After trekking, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. Later, experience the heritage of the Batwa people through stories, traditions and insights into their historic connection with the forest. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast before leaving Bwindi and travelling towards the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. The journey takes you through the terraced hills and winding roads characteristic of southwestern Uganda. Arrive at the lake and check into your accommodation overlooking its calm waters and numerous small islands. After lunch, spend the afternoon at your own pace. You can relax at the lodge, enjoy the views, take photographs or simply appreciate the peaceful surroundings. For those seeking a more active experience, an optional canoe ride can be arranged. Later, you can enjoy the atmosphere around the lodge or choose an optional evening game drive to begin exploring the park.
