Day 1

Nairobi – Loita Hills Maji Moto Eco Camp

Nairobi – Loita Hills Maji Moto Eco Camp

We depart from Nairobi or the Maasai Mara and drive to Maji Moto, a traditional Maasai community on the edge of the Loita Hills.

Upon arrival, we meet our local Maasai guides and begin our cultural experience with a guided walk through the community. Learn about traditional Maasai life, pastoral traditions, customs, and the deep connection between the Maasai people and their land.

We also visit the famous Maji Moto natural hot springs, where you can relax and enjoy the surrounding volcanic landscape.

Depending on the day's arrangements, you may also experience traditional Maasai activities, including warrior demonstrations, storytelling, singing, and conversations with community members.

Overnight stay at Maji Moto Eco Camp in a traditional manyatta or tented camp.

Day 2

After breakfast, we set out on foot into the spectacular Loita Hills, accompanied by experienced local Maasai guides.

Leaving the community behind, we follow ancient trails deeper into the wilderness, crossing open grasslands, indigenous vegetation, rocky terrain, and forested landscapes. Along the way, our guides share their traditional knowledge of the area, helping us identify animal tracks, useful plants, water sources, and sites of cultural significance.

Our destination for the day is Eco Cave, a natural rocky shelter historically associated with Maasai warriors and wilderness activities.

As evening falls, we settle into camp and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Loita wilderness, surrounded by the sounds of the forest and open landscape.

Day 3

Eco Cave – Olorien

Eco Cave – Olorien

After breakfast, we continue our trek deeper into the Loita Hills, heading through the spectacular Naimina Enkiyio Forest, also known as the Forest of the Lost Child. This ancient indigenous forest, characterized by towering old-growth olive trees, is one of the most culturally significant landscapes in the Loita Hills.

The trail winds through dense forest, valleys, rolling hills, rocky sections, and ancient wildlife paths. Keep an eye out for forest birds, monkeys, gazelles, zebras, and other signs of wildlife, while our Maasai guides help identify animal tracks and share their traditional knowledge of the forest.

Along the way, discover the cultural and spiritual importance of Naimina Enkiyio and the deep relationship the Maasai community has maintained with this unique ecosystem for generations.

We continue towards Olorien, where we settle into our bush camp and enjoy another peaceful evening surrounded by the Loita wilderness.

Day 4

Olorien – Oljoronyoki - Nairobi

Olorien – Oljoronyoki - Nairobi

After breakfast, we begin the final trek from Olorien to Oljoronyoki, crossing expansive plains, rolling hills, and indigenous forests while enjoying spectacular views across the Loita Hills.

Our Maasai guides share their knowledge of the land, traditions, and wildlife. Along the trail, we may encounter zebras, gazelles, monkeys, and various bird species while learning to identify animal tracks and signs.

After completing the trek, we transfer to Maji Moto basecamp for lunch and time to relax before beginning our journey back back to Nairobi.
