Day 1

Nairobi to Maasai Mara

Nairobi to Maasai Mara

Depart Nairobi in the morning and descend into the Great Rift Valley, with scenic viewpoints along the way. Arrive at Mara Ntulele Camp in time for lunch and to settle in. At 3 pm, set out on your first game drive across the open plains, where elephants, zebras, wildebeest, topi and gazelles graze beneath the wide Mara sky. Return to camp for dinner and an evening under the stars.

Day 2

Game Drive in Maasai mara

Set out early with a packed lunch for a full day in the Mara, when the big cats are most active. Track lions resting in the grass, search for leopards in the riverside acacias, and follow cheetahs scanning the plains for prey. Look out for giraffes, elephants, buffalo, hyenas, jackals and herds of zebra and wildebeest. Visit the Mara River, home to hippos and huge Nile crocodiles, and see the famous crossing points of the Great Migration (typically July to October). Drive to the Kenya-Tanzania border to stand at the boundary marker where the Mara meets Tanzania's Serengeti. Return to camp at sunset.

Maasai Culture & Drive to Lake Nakuru

After breakfast, take an optional visit to a Maasai village to learn about the warriors' traditional dances, beadwork and way of life. Depart the Mara for Nakuru, with lunch en route, and arrive at Buraha Zenoni around 3 pm. Spend the rest of the day relaxing.

Start with an early morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya's best places to see both black and white rhinos. Spot Rothschild's giraffes, buffalo, waterbucks and lions, with over 400 bird species including pelicans and flamingos (numbers vary through the year). Visit the scenic Makalia Falls, then depart around 11 am for Naivasha. Check in and enjoy lunch at Eseriani Hotel. In the afternoon, take a boat ride on Lake Naivasha, watching for hippos and fish eagles, then land at Crescent Island for a walking safari among giraffes, zebras, wildebeest and impala with no vehicle between you and the animals.

Walk through Hell's Gate Gorge's narrow rock passages and volcanic formations. Enjoy lunch, then drive to Nairobi, where you'll be dropped at your hotel or in the city centre.
