Day 1

Zanzibar to Central Serengeti (The Instant Wild)

Zanzibar to Central Serengeti (The Instant Wild)

Leave Zanzibar behind and fly directly to Seronera Airstrip in Central Serengeti, turning a long travel day into an immediate safari experience. Your private guide will meet you at the airstrip and, after a short introduction, you head straight into the national park for your first game drive.

Central Serengeti is one of Tanzania's best areas for year-round wildlife, with open plains, rocky kopjes and excellent opportunities to encounter lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes and large herds of plains game. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy an afternoon game drive before continuing to camp as the Serengeti light softens towards sunset.

Main Destination:
Central Serengeti National Park
Best Time To Visit January to February and June to October (Different areas are best at different times)
High Season July to March (The Seronera area is crowded)
Best Weather June to October (Little to no rainfall)

Full-Day Serengeti Safari | Following the Wildlife

Full-Day Serengeti Safari | Following the Wildlife

Today is dedicated entirely to the Serengeti National Park, giving you the flexibility to follow the wildlife rather than spending valuable hours moving between destinations.

Set out after breakfast with your private safari guide and explore the plains in search of predators and large concentrations of wildlife. Depending on the season, your route can be adapted to follow the movements of the Great Wildebeest Migration, while resident wildlife makes the Serengeti rewarding throughout the year.

Expect a full day of game viewing, from lions resting beneath acacia trees and cheetahs scanning the plains to elephants, giraffes, zebras and huge herds of wildebeest. Your guide will use local knowledge and current wildlife movements to help maximise your time in the park.

Day 3

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands | From Savannah to the Crater Rim

Serengeti to Ngorongoro Highlands | From Savannah to the Crater Rim

After breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive as you gradually leave the Serengeti behind and travel towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The landscape changes dramatically as the endless Serengeti plains give way to the cooler highlands surrounding the crater. Depending on the arrangements for your safari, enjoy a guided walking experience with a ranger and professional guide, following a designated trail and experiencing the landscape from a completely different perspective.

Walking through the bush gives you time to notice details often missed from a safari vehicle: animal tracks, birds, plants, insects and the smaller signs of life that make Tanzania's wilderness so fascinating.

Continue to your lodge near the crater rim for a relaxed evening and your first views across the spectacular Ngorongoro landscape.

Main Destination:
Ngorongoro Highlands
Activities:
Game drives (Pop-up roof 4x4 vehicle) & Walking safaris (with an armed guide)

Ngorongoro Crater Floor (The Big Five Natural Wonder)

Ngorongoro Crater Floor (The Big Five Natural Wonder)

Today brings one of Tanzania's defining safari experiences: descending into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive across its extraordinary wildlife-filled floor.

After an early breakfast, descend through the crater walls into this vast natural amphitheatre. The crater's permanent water sources and fertile grasslands support an exceptional concentration of wildlife, making it one of the best places in Tanzania to look for the Big Five.

Spend several hours exploring the crater floor in search of lions, elephants, buffalo, hippos, hyenas, zebras and other wildlife. With luck, you may also encounter the endangered black rhinoceros. Take a picnic lunch in an approved location before continuing your game drive.

Later, ascend the crater and return to your lodge for a relaxed final evening in the Ngorongoro Highlands.

Main Destination:
Ngorongoro Crater
Best Time To Visit June to October (Wildlife viewing is best)
High Season Most of the year – July to March (Expect crowds)

Tarangire National Park to Arusha / Zanzibar Return

Tarangire National Park to Arusha / Zanzibar Return

After breakfast, travel towards Tarangire National Park, a spectacular final stop known for its enormous elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and distinctive dry-season landscapes.

Enjoy a morning game drive through Tarangire, watching for elephants moving between the baobabs, giraffes browsing above the woodland and lions following herds of zebra and wildebeest. Tarangire is also one of Tanzania's most rewarding parks for birdwatching, with an impressive variety of species.

After a picnic lunch, continue to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward journey.

If Zanzibar is part of your wider Tanzania holiday, you can instead connect to a domestic flight back to the island, making this safari an easy addition to a Zanzibar beach stay.
