Day 1-2

Track down rhinos at Lake Nakuru
Depart Nairobi for Lake Nakuru (3 hours), where you can see over 400 different species of birds, including large numbers of pelicans and sometimes flamingoes. Nakuru is an excellent place to see white rhino and you can also spot the rare Rothschild giraffe here, identifiable by its white lower legs that resemble long socks! 56 species of mammal have been recorded in the park, including zebra, buffalo, waterbuck, and lions. Upon entering the park, you will head to your accommodation at Sopa Lodge, perched at the top of a ridge with stunning views over the park and lake. The lodge features a restaurant, bar and lounge, pool, small shop, and all the rooms are very spacious with great views. After lunch, you will head out on a game drive to explore the park and lake shore. At sunset, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an evening of relaxation. The next day will be spent on game drives exploring the lake shore and forest areas of the park, with all meals at the lodge.

Day 3

After breakfast, you’ll head down the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha and the Sopa Resort (1.5 hours), where you’ll arrive well before lunch. The lodge is situated near the lake shore, surrounded by beautiful gardens, and wildlife such as bushbuck, zebra, and giraffe often roam around. The lodge features a restaurant, a comfortable lounge, and a bar with leather sofas and fireplaces to enjoy the cool Naivasha evenings. The rooms are spacious, set in Swahili-style chalets, either with a balcony or a glass-fronted lounge area for relaxing and observing wildlife. After lunch, you’ll go on a boat trip across the lake, where you might see hippos and various bird species including fish eagles and pelicans. Towards the end of the boat trip, you'll stop at Crescent Island for a guided bush walk, where you can get up close to plains mammals like giraffe and wildebeest. After the walk, you’ll return to the lodge for the evening, enjoy dinner, and watch the hippos come out of the lake to graze.

Day 4-6
Track down the Big Five in the Maasai Mara
Track down the Big Five in the Maasai Mara
After breakfast, depart Naivasha and head to the open grassland of the Masai Mara (5 hours). Rich in biodiversity and home to a wide variety of bird species and wildlife, this savannah reserve provides excellent game viewing and bird watching opportunities. The Masai Mara is considered the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife reserves and has recorded 95 species of mammals, amphibians, and reptiles, as well as over 400 bird species. No other place in Africa boasts such abundant wildlife, and visitors rarely miss seeing the Big Five. You will arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Mara Game Camp, located within the reserve. It is a quality camp with good facilities and a variety of tent options. The dining is of a high standard, and there are several other activities available, such as fishing and bush walking. The next two days will be dedicated to exploring the savannahs of the Masai Mara on game drives to track the Big Five, along with many other species of mammals, reptiles, and birds.

Day 7
Transfer to Nairobi
Transfer to Nairobi
After breakfast, you will head back to Nairobi, stopping for lunch on the way (5.5 hours). Alternatively, stay for lunch at the camp and fly back to Nairobi in the afternoon (optional extra).
