Day 1

You will be picked up in Nairobi and drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve. This enormous reserve is part of the vast Serengeti plains known for its spectacular annual wildebeest migration. It is also home to the “Big Five”. Upon arrival at the Keekorok Lodge, you will have lunch and have some time to relax before departing for your first game drive. The reserve is one of the greatest wildernesses of the world. Large mammals are varied and easy to see. Residents in the park include the giraffe, buffalo, eland and thousands of plain game including impala, zebra, topi, both Thomson's and Grants gazelle and more. Later in the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

You will rise early and depart for an amazing sunrise adventure. No matter how much you have thought about Africa, this is more than you expected. It's the ideal backdrop for an exciting hot air balloon expedition. You will find the Old Africa of the movies with rolling grasslands dotted by acacia trees and sweeping plains teeming with wildlife from a bird’s eye view. After your balloon tour, you will visit a village of the Maasai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience. After a full English breakfast back at the camp, you will check out and depart for Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon. This is where your safari will end.
