Day 1

Mombasa - Tsavo East National Park

Mombasa - Tsavo East National Park

Our driver comfortably picks you up from your hotel or the Mombasa airport at 6:30 am in the early morning. We then depart for Tsavo East National Park, situated in a semi-arid area known as the Taru Desert. Upon arrival, we enter the park through Bachuma Gate, then proceed on a game drive en-route to our accommodation, where we arrive in good time for lunch and then set off for our afternoon game drive.

Tsavo East hosts a large variety of animals, including lions, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, antelopes, ostriches, gazelles, buffaloes, and elephants. There are many interesting physical landmarks to be observed in the open areas of Tsavo East, such as the Yatta Plateau, one of the world’s longest lava flows. An additional attraction is the Athi River, which near the Manyani gate forms the Lugard Falls, a long stretch of rippling white water cataracts and a favorite haunt for sunbathing crocodiles. As the sun sets over Tsavo, we head back to our lodge for dinner and overnight.

Tsavo East – Amboseli National Park

After breakfast, we leave Tsavo East behind us and head for Amboseli National Park (254 kilometers distance, approx. 4 hours of drive). On a clear day, we marvel at majestic Mount Kilimanjaro as we approach the park. Upon entering, we enjoy a game drive en-route to our accommodation, arriving at the perfect time for lunch. We have time to relax and dip into the inviting swimming pool, then we set out for a game drive. Amboseli is best known for its great herds of Elephants – you’ll often find plenty of them standing knee-deep in the water, spraying water, eating, and bathing in the swamps to cool off. Predators stalk the herds of grazing animals, recreating the age-old drama of life and death under the African sun, in a setting so lushly beautiful.

Cheetahs, buffaloes, giraffes, different types of gazelle and rich plains game are but a few examples of the stunning wildlife found here. As the sun goes down on Amboseli National Park, we return to our accommodation for dinner.
