Day 3

Central Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

Central Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

Today we are indeed very lucky to be going out very early in the morning. Let's make the most of it and see what the darkness has got to surprise us with that early morning in Central Serengeti. Game drive in Central Serengeti contains black clay pans, which support acacia trees and the giraffe feed on them. Thick woodland is home to vervet monkeys, olive baboons and bush babies. On the plains, elephants are plentiful and matriarch herds are increasing in certain areas. The central area is so large that wildlife climb and play on the gong rock to admire Maasai cave paintings of elephants, shields and abstract patterns. The kopjes also provide a superlative vantage point for the predators to spot prey. We will spend the night on the crater rim. Your bush dinner and overnight stay will be at Ngorongoro Simba Campsite. But we are flexible and we can upgrade tented accommodation or lodge if you prefer at additional cost!

Day 4

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha City

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha City

After early morning breakfast at Simba Campsite, you will drive down into the crater. The Crater is the largest unbroken caldera in the world and has unbelievable wildlife diversity. You will find almost all the species that are native to the East African savannah. The possibility to see/spot the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard) within a couple of hours is high due to the fact that animals don't migrate from the Crater. Also, the Conservation Area is well known for the existence of Maasai families in circular homesteads called Bomas. Ngorongoro Conservation is the best site to understand early human evolution pioneered by Mary and Louis Leakey. Other wildlife expected to be seen are wildebeest, gazelle, golden–jackal, bat-eared fox, hippopotamus, East African wild dog, African leopard, ungulates, waterbucks, buffalo, eland and serval. Later, return to Arusha, arriving around 4:00 pm/ 5.00 pm depending on the nature of the game drive on that particular day.
