Nairobi to Amboseli

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by an Across the Wild Safaris representative, briefed on your safari, and begin your scenic drive to Amboseli National Park.

Arrive in time for check-in and lunch at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge, a beautifully set lodge located inside the park at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. The lodge offers sweeping views of the plains and exceptional comfort in a prime wildlife location.

At 15:30 hrs, enjoy coffee or tea in the lobby before departing for an afternoon game drive at Amboseli, one of Africa’s best places to view large free-roaming elephant herds at close range, alongside lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and abundant birdlife. The park also offers breathtaking views of snow-capped Mt. Kilimanjaro (weather permitting) and cultural encounters with the Maasai people.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Begin your day with an early morning game drive in Amboseli National Park, when wildlife is most active and the soft morning light offers excellent photography opportunities. Track elephants, lions, buffalo, and other plains game against the dramatic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Amboseli to Masai Mara

After breakfast at the lodge, depart for Nairobi and transfer to Wilson Airport for your scheduled flight to the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy breathtaking aerial views as you fly over Kenya’s scenic landscapes before landing in the heart of safari country.

On arrival, transfer to Mara Simba Lodge for check-in. Later, enjoy tea or coffee before heading out on your first afternoon game drive, exploring the vast savannahs in search of lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, and other wildlife.

The Masai Mara forms part of the greater Serengeti National Park ecosystem and is world-renowned for its dense predator population and the spectacular Great Migration from July to October. Alternative 2: Balloon Safari & Game Drive (Optional)

Begin the day with an optional early morning hot-air balloon safari (extra cost). Drift silently over the Mara at sunrise during a 1-hour flight, spotting wildlife from above. On landing, enjoy a champagne celebration followed by a lavish bush breakfast. Receive your balloon certificate before returning to the lodge with game viewing en route.
