Dar es Salaam to Nyerere NP and Boat Safari Adventure in Rufiji River

At 06:00 am, our professional driver guide will drive you from Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve (now known as Nyerere National Park). It will take a maximum of 5 hours to arrive and the journey will show you very good views of African inland life, landscape and environment. Once at the camp lodge, enjoy some refreshment, and relaxation. You will then go for a stroll in the local village with our guide to see how the locals live, visiting the primary school, and the village market. Afterwards you will return to the lodge for lunch.

Head out for a boat safari along the Rufiji River at around 16:00. Here you will encounter hippos and crocodiles in large numbers. You will also see some of the 350 bird species that have been recorded in this park. The birdlife is supported by the Rufiji River swampland. You will return to the camp lodge for a hot bath and dinner at Nyerere tented Camp.

Full game drive

Full day of game-drive enjoyment inside the national park today and it will begin after your breakfast. Continue with the game drive with your packed lunch box and enjoy a bush lunch break and rest before continuing with an afternoon game drive. This will enable you to experience the authenticity and beauty of African wildlife, topography, acacia forests and distant mountain views. The reserve is famous for its many elephants. You will also see lions, wild dog, buffalo, bushbuck, impala, eland, baboon, zebra, Giraffe and kudu in plenty numbers. Get into pristine corners of the park to see hidden animal world.

Dinner & overnight will be at Nyerere tented camp or lodge of your choice.

Morning Walk and the Journey Back to Dar es Salaam

Wake up for an early morning sunrise walking safari with an armed ranger in the light Nyerere national park forest and then return for a warm breakfast. Afterwards you will prepare for checkout and start your trip back to the city of Dar es Salaam, where upon arrival you will dropped off at your hotel of choice, or the Ferry Boat station, if travelling to Zanzibar.
