3-Day Mikumi NP, Udzungwa Safari by Train & Maasai Tour

Mikumi Game drive

You will be picked up from your hotel at 04:30 or airport on arrival and transferred to the train station to catch the 06:00 train to Morogoro. Upon arrival, you will meet your safari driver-guide and continue by road to Mikumi National Park, a drive of about two hours.

On arrival, you will start your first game drive, exploring the open plains and rich wildlife areas of the park. Mikumi is home to elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, lions, and a variety of antelope and bird species. The game drive continues until the evening, after which you will drive to the Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Udzungwa Hiking

After breakfast at the camp, you will depart for Udzungwa Mountains National Park. On arrival, you will be joined by a park ranger for a guided hiking experience through the forest trails. The hike takes you through dense tropical vegetation, rivers, and scenic viewpoints, with a visit to one of the beautiful waterfalls where you can relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Udzungwa is well known for its unique biodiversity, including endemic plant and primate species, offering a refreshing contrast to the savannah landscape. After the hike, you will return to Mikumi for dinner and overnight at your accommodation.

Maasai Tour

After breakfast, you will check out from the camp and visit a nearby Maasai community. During the visit, you will learn about Maasai traditions, lifestyle, and culture, with an opportunity to interact with the locals and take photos. After the cultural experience, you will drive back to Morogoro. In the afternoon, you will board the scheduled train back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the evening and marking the end of your safari adventure. Drop off at the hotel or airport!
