Upon arrival, our guide will be waiting to warmly welcome you at Kigali International Airport. After check-out and loading your vehicle, you will begin an exciting 4-day journey into the Pearl of Africa, where a truly unique and immersive holiday experience awaits.
The drive toward the Ugandan border is incredibly scenic, offering rolling hills, terraced landscapes, and vibrant countryside, perfect for photography along the way. Your guide will assist you with all border formalities to ensure a smooth crossing. After entering Uganda, it’s approximately a 1.5-hour drive to Lake Bunyonyi.
Upon arrival, you will transfer by boat to Sharp's Island, a historic island that played a significant role in shaping the history of the Kigezi region, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.” As you cruise across the calm waters, keep an eye out for birds and otters.

Day 2
Slow boat and visit the 29 islands
Slow boat and visit the 29 islands
Lake Bunyonyi is home to 29 islands, each with its own unique history. You will enjoy a guided boat tour with a local expert who will share stories about the area, its people, and culture. Highlights include visits to Akampene Island, Kyahugye Island, Bushara Island, and Bwama Island. Along the way, look out for birds, otters, and island wildlife. You may also choose to have lunch on one of the islands.
An optional gorilla trekking experience can be arranged in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.
After the tour, return to Itambira Island for relaxation. Enjoy swimming, nature walks, or simply unwind in your African hut.

Day 3

Visit chevu Batwa Community and hike to kyabahinga hill,
You will embark on an adventurous boat ride to Chevu village, located at the far end of Lake Bunyonyi. Here, you will meet the Batwa (often referred to as pygmy people), who once lived in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park before being displaced in the early 1990s. Traditionally, forest dwellers, hunters, and gatherers now live along the lakeshore.
During your visit, you will enjoy a cultural performance and take a guided walk through their community, offering a meaningful opportunity to learn about their history, traditions, and way of life.
Afterward, you will hike up Kyabahinga Hill, where you will be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and its many islands. Along the way, you will pass through local communities, observing daily life as people tend their gardens and children go about their routines. Feel free to engage and ask questions.
To end the day, enjoy a unique experience paddling a traditional dugout canoe on the calm waters of the lake.

Day 4

After a hearty breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to your island home of the past three days. You will transfer by boat back to the mainland and begin a scenic five-hour drive to Kigali, often referred to as the heart of Africa. The journey is relaxed and picturesque, with opportunities to stop for photos along the way.
In Kigali, you will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where over 250,000 victims of the 1994 genocide are laid to rest. This deeply moving experience takes approximately two hours and offers important historical insight. You will then enjoy lunch at the memorial café, supporting the site and its ongoing work.
Afterward, you will transfer to Kigali International Airport for your departure, sharing final hugs and reflections as you conclude your unforgettable journey.
