The journey from Maun into the Okavango

We will pick you up from your lodge, hotel, or from the airport early in the morning, at 6 or 7 am, depending on the season. We continue directly into the Delta (Xakanaxa and Third Bridge area) with the early morning excitement. We will explore the awe-inspiring Xakanaxa lagoon and corners of the Moremi Game Reserve, as well as its adjacent wildlife-rich areas. You can expect to see Elephants, Hippos, giraffes, impalas, waterbucks, lions, leopards, wildebeest, Cape buffalo, and African wild dogs as well as more than 200 species of birds.

Explore the Okavango

The wake-up call today is at around 5:30 am. Set off early to try to catch predators on a hunt. You will do an extensive early morning game drive and return to camp at around 8:30 am for a delicious breakfast. Depending on the water levels, boat cruises or mokoro rides may be possible. This allows us to explore the fauna and flora from a vantage point on the water. One boat cruise will be done complementary to this itinerary. Your guide will inform you about the time.

In the evening, you get to feel even closer to nature. This is when the day's quiet transforms into the rivalry of night cries, as the slightly pitchy, hauling sounds of hyenas grow closer, towering over the distant, more growling, roars of the lions. Sit with us around the campfire and hear the guide’s childhood stories about growing up around animals in the Okavango area. The night sounds are fully explained and described by the guide and his team.

Return to Maun

We take you for an early morning game-viewing experience, even before the Kalahari sun kisses the morning dew on the savanna grasslands goodbye. On this drive, you may get a chance to see "the big cats" (lions, leopards, and cheetahs) as they hunt in the morning, taking advantage of the cool temperatures.

After the short game drive, we will start our journey back to Maun. This drive is an adventure on its own as we drive through wildlife-rich areas adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve.

The tour ends in Maun. We will drop you off at the lodge, hotel, or airport. Otherwise, we will assist you on your connecting adventure.
