Day 1

Maun to Central Kalahari Game Reserve

Maun to Central Kalahari Game Reserve

After breakfast, we pack our bags into the trailer and drive for three hours along the Makalamamedi veterinary fence of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, entering through the Matswere gate. The animals found in this area include kudu, giraffe, eland, springbok, hartebeest, wildebeest, lions, brown hyenas, black-backed jackals and leopards. Due to the distance traveled, we will enjoy our packed lunch in the bush before heading to the campsite.

Upon arrival at the campsite, we will find our camping tents already set up. Our chef will prepare a delicious meal in the evening, which we will enjoy while sitting around the campfire. After dinner, we will spend the night in our tents. Before going to bed, we will briefly discuss the itinerary for the following day.

Day 2

After breakfast, we will continue our drive to Central Kalahari West. We will take our packed lunch and water with us, as we plan to spend most of the day on the drive. There are various animal and bird species to observe, including the secretary bird, kori bustard, double-banded courser, acacia pied barbet, crimson-breasted shrike, lesser grey shrike, sabota lark, common ostrich, scaly-feathered finch and the gabar goshawk. Upon arrival at the campsite later in the day, we will find our meals prepared for us. We will spend the night around the fireplace, discussing the itinerary for the following day.

Day 3

After breakfast, we drive to the northwest part of the game reserve. From there, we return to the campsite for lunch. After resting, we embark on our afternoon game drive in search of wildlife. If the rains have been good, we can expect to see black-backed jackals, bat-eared foxes, cape foxes, leopards, Kalahari lions, blue wildebeests, plains zebras, common elands, sable antelopes, gemsboks, springboks, impalas, greater kudus, cape ground squirrels and ostriches. Later at the campsite, our dinner will be prepared, and hot water will be readily available. We will spend the night in our tents.

Day 4

Central Kalahari to Nxai Pan National Park

Central Kalahari to Nxai Pan National Park

We wake up early in the morning for the game drive, just after having breakfast. We head to the Nxai Pan National Park and enjoy our packed lunch along the way. Since it will be a very long day to reach the park, we will also take water and drinks with us. Upon arrival at the campsite, we will find that our tents are set up and dinner is ready. We will enjoy our meal and have the opportunity to bathe at the campsite. After dinner, we will discuss the itinerary for the following day. We will spend the night in our camping tents.

Day 5

Nxai Pan National Park

Nxai Pan National Park

After breakfast, we drive to the Baines baobabs. The Baines baobab trees are named after Thomas Baines, a member of the Livingstone expedition. He painted a group of these iconic trees, which became famously known as the 'Baines baobabs.' According to sources, he completed his painting between 1861 and 1862 and was captivated by the rare sight of these magnificent baobab trees. We will have our packed lunch with us since we will be away for most of the day. Later, we will drive back to the campsite, where our meals will be prepared for us.

Back to Maun

Back to Maun

After breakfast, we pack our camping equipment and drive back to Maun. We take the A3 Maun-Nata road, passing through the Makalamabedi gate. Upon arrival, a transfer to the airport will be arranged.
