Day 1

Our driver-guide will pick you from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport before 7:00am and drive you north to Meru National Park. Along the way you will be able to enjoy great views of the Mount Kenya region. You will arrive at your camp in time for lunch and afternoon relaxation.

Later you will embark on your first game drive at 4:00pm, which will allow you to see the wonderful creatures that populate the park. Brilliant on a magnificent scale, the Meru and Kora sister parks feature luxuriant jungles, coursing rivers, verdant swamps, khaki grasslands, and gaunt termite cathedrals all under the sky’s great blue bowl. Rarely visited and utterly unspoiled, few places are comparable to the remote and rugged atmosphere found here.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Ikweta Camp.

This is your full day with nature. Enjoy your early morning breakfast and depart with packed lunch for full day tour.

Meru National Park is famous for its lions. It is especially associated with Elsa the Lioness and the film Born Free, a 1966 Technicolor British drama starring Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers as Joy and George Adamson, a real-life couple who raised Elsa, an orphaned lion cub, to adulthood.

Elsa’s Grave is at the southern end of the park, off the southern bank of the Ura River.
Meru is one of the best places in Kenya to see rhinos in the wilderness. At last count, the fenced 83 sq km rhino sanctuary was home to 34 black and 70 white rhinos.

Eat breakfast and then depart early in the morning for Samburu National Reserve. You’ll transverse through the Kenyan highlands as you make your way to the northern part of the state and arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and afternoon relaxation. A game drive awaits you in the evening!

Samburu National Reserve is a game reserve on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro River in Kenya. It is also the home of Kamunyak, a lioness famous for adopting oryx calves. You’ll return in time for dinner and your overnight stay at Sentrim Elementaita.

Rising to 5,199 meters, Mount Kenya is the second tallest mountain in Africa. The scenery surrounding this World Heritage Site is breath-taking. You’ll see pristine wilderness with lakes, tarns, glaciers, dense forest, mineral springs, a selection of rare and endangered species of animals, high altitude adapted plains game, and unique montane and alpine vegetation.

Visitors can enjoy mountain climbing, camping, and caving with the mountain’s rugged glacier-clad peaks providing the perfect backdrop.

This is your second day in Mount Kenya National Park. The park includes Mount Kenya itself, which is basically a forest reserve where animals reside, including elephants, tree hyrax, mongoose, mole rats, bushbucks, waterbucks, duikers, buffaloes, black rhinos, leopards, and many other others.

Mount Kenya has montane avifauna, which attracts a variety of birds. You may see mountain buzzard, violet-backed starling, olive pigeon, eastern bronze-napped pigeon and oriole finch, Meyer’s parrots, African green pigeon, black-and-white mannikin, spot-flanked barbet, red-fronted parrot, Jackson’s francolin, moorland chat, Abyssinian ground thrush, Hartlaub’s turaco.

You will choose either to climb Mount Kenya or relax at your lodge (Castle Royal Mombasa).

Enjoy your breakfast and then depart for Aberdares National Park, where you’ll arrive in time for lunch at the Aberdares Ark Hotel. Animals will come to the water hole here at night. It’s all animals and adventure while staying in this lodge!

Aberdare National Park provides a habitat for elephants, black rhinos, leopards, spotted hyenas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, buffalos, warthogs, and bushbucks (among others). Rare sightings include the giant forest hog, bongo, golden cat, serval cat, African wild cat, African civet cat, and the blue duiker. Visitors can indulge in picnics, trout fishing in the rivers, and camping in the moorlands. Bird viewing is rewarding, with over 250 species of birds found in the park. These include Jackson's francolin, sparrow hawks, goshawks, eagles, sunbirds, and plovers.

After breakfast you’ll drive to Nairobi and pay a visit to the Nairobi National Museum, where there's a permanent collection that combines history, culture, and art. It is a must visit for travelers interested in Kenya’s rich heritage. Artifacts are displayed across two floors, and a nature trail winds through the surrounding grounds, a botanical garden, and outdoor sculpture collections

Note: If you are not fully vaccinated, you will head straight to the Covid-19 test center and then relax after having lunch at the hotel.

After breakfast we will go on a city tour. We will visit the Nairobi National Museum (if you didn’t the day prior), the National Archives, Kicc towers, and the village market. After lunch you will visit the Giraffe Center.

Later in the evening, we will drop you off at the airport for your scheduled flight to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda.

Upon your arrival in Entebbe you will be driven to the Blue Monkey Guest House for dinner and your overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have lunch on the way and arrive at Bwindi between 2:00-3:00pm, at which point you’ll check in at your hotel.

In the evening, you will head out for a community walk to visit the Batwa, which is an indigenous group of people that has lived in the forest for 500,000 years. You’ll enjoy their traditional dances and other performances.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Gorilla Friends Resort Lodge.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, we will prepare for our gorilla tracking adventure, which begins at 8:00am with a briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority staff at the information center. We will then be guided into the jungle to track these shy primates.

Gorilla tracking may take 3-7 hours but is well worth the effort. Once you get sight of the gorillas, you will have an hour to admire, observe, and take photos of them. It’s advisable to bring along a rain jacket and hiking boots.

At the end of this long and exciting adventure, you’ll return to the lodge for a well-deserved shower, dinner, and your overnight stay.

After an early morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park to see the tree climbing lions on the Kasenyi Plains.

When you arrive in Ishasha, you will first try to spot the lions in one of the huge trees before going on a game drive. You’ll then make your way to the main sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is a huge place where wildlife and people coexist in harmony. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Engiri Game Lodge.

After breakfast, you will go for an evening game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. We’ll aim to catch the lions hunting in the early morning as the day dawns (since the temperatures are cooler). We may also see Uganda kob, elephants, buffalo, warthog, leopard, and waterbuck.

In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel that connects Lake Edward and Lake George. Some of the best wildlife viewing is done on a boat cruise along the channel passing squacco herons, pied kingfishers, large numbers of buffalo and hippo, basking crocodiles, and very many different bird species, and large mammals. This is one of the most memorable experiences in this park. Later in the evening, you will go for an evening game drive.

Today begins with a delightful breakfast, after which we’ll return to the mainland and prepare to drive back to Kampala. We will lunch at the equator in Masaka, where we’ll see the imaginary line that divides our planet into two equal hemispheres. Snacks, souvenirs, and photographs may be taken here.

We’ll arrive in Kampala in the evening. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Humara Resorts.

After your breakfast at the hotel, you will leave for Mount Elgon with your driver-guide. On your way you will see the Nile, the longest river in the world. Mount Elgon is situated in Eastern Uganda on the Uganda-Kenya border. The mountain covers the biggest surface areas of all the extinct volcanoes in the whole world. The area features some of the most magnificent waterfalls, eye-catching caves, cliffs, and gorges in the entire country.

You’ll have a stopover in Mbale for lunch. Upon arrival at Mount Elgon, you will take a walk to and around Sipi falls, which are regarded as Uganda’s most romantic. Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the Sipi Falls Resort.

After breakfast you’ll travel to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area and home to more than 73 animal species, including buffaloes, leopards, lions, elephants, 3/4ths of the world’s population of Rothschild giraffes, plus a healthy population of herbivores. There are also 451 bird species here.

The mighty Nile River flows through the park creating a powerful phenomenon at the Kabalega Falls. You'll enjoy the views of these magnificent falls where the Nile forces its way through a gorge in the rocks and tumbles 43m below before flowing westwards into Lake Albert. Did you know that Murchison Falls is one of the most powerful waterfalls in the whole world?

You will have an evening game drive before dinner and your overnight stay at the Parkside Safari Lodge.

Day 27

Today you’ll embark on an early morning game drive on the northern bank. Your driver-guide will help you spot a great number of animals and birds.

You’ll return to the lodge for lunch and rest until 2:00pm, at which time you’ll go on an afternoon boat ride from 4-5:00pm. You will safari upstream by boat to the calm Victoria Nile and the base of the falls. There you can marvel at some hippos and crocodiles. Over the 17-kilometer stretch you may also see elephants, waterbucks, and Uganda kobs. This is also the habitat for many bird species.

Optional activity: A balloon safari can be organized early in the morning on this day for an additional US $400 for person, after which you’ll proceed with the normal program.

After the boat ride, you will go on an evening game drive to see animals that you might have missed during the morning game drive.
