Explore the wonders of the Masai Mara

You'll enjoy morning breakfast as you prepare for a full-day game drive, originally established in 1948 as a wildlife sanctuary, converted to a Game reserve in 1961. The Mara is mostly open flat grassland with long but thin grass and is spotted with acacia trees. The Western edge of the Mara is formed by a geological fault throwing up the Esoit Escarpment. Three main rivers drain the area: the Sand, Talek, and Mara. It is at the crossing of these rivers that many of the famous images of the Great Migration are seen. You'll enjoy a picnic lunch in the reserve as you continue your game drive in search of animals, including all of the Big Five —lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and black rhino. You'll also see wildebeests, zebras, gazelles, topis, elands, impalas, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, foxes, vultures, storks, cranes, ostriches, eagles, and more.

Tracing the Big 5

Tracing the Big 5

The expertise and experience of our driver-guides will maximize your chances of seeing all the splendours of the Masai Mara and beyond. A family of cheetah sunning themselves sleepily on a rock, the drama of a lion making a kill just 15-20 feet away from you, or the thrill of an elephant charge. The trees in the distance turn out to be a giraffe’s family. The clump of bushes is a pride of lions. And the rock that moves may be a rhino lumbering out of your way. Proceed to the Mara River, where you’ll enjoy a sumptuous picnic lunch at the river. In any event, the sheer mass and spectacle of the animals surrounding you will provide endless opportunities to fill many an album of treasured memories.
