Day 1

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

Nairobi - Masai Mara National Reserve

Your driver-guide will pick you up from the airport or your city hotel to start the safari, with a picturesque drive down the Great Rift Valley and onward to the Masai Mara, Kenya's famous game reserve. Stop briefly en route at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to enjoy the stunning views of an enormous valley system said to be visible from outer space.

Arrive in the Masai Mara in time for lunch. After lunch, we will have an afternoon game drive to spot the magnificent wildlife in the park. This reserve is known for offering excellent predator sightings thanks to its relatively large populations of lions, cheetahs and leopards. Bordering Tanzania, the Mara is the northern extension of the Serengeti and forms a wildlife corridor between the 2 countries. Dinner and overnight will be at the camp.

Masai Mara Full Day

You will be taken on two game drives today: one in the morning before breakfast and one in the late afternoon. Early mornings and late afternoons are considered the best times to spot animals, as they are most active then. To get some of the best game viewing of the day, an early start is needed to beat the heat of the sun.

To bring more texture to your experience at the Mara, you may want to take advantage of several optional events we offer at an extra cost. Experience a visit to the local Maasai people in their nearby village. Meet these indigenous people and see their ancient lifestyle and culture up close. Want an unforgettable sight? Take a pre-dawn hot-air balloon ride high above the reserve as the morning light breaks across the golden savannah, and witness the herds of wildlife emerging into the day. Your driver can arrange either of these optional excursions. Your overnight stay will be at the camp.

We will embark on a comprehensive game drive of this scenic park, including visits to viewpoints which offer superb photo opportunities.
