Dar es Salaam | Nyerere National Park
We will pick you up from your hotel in the morning to embark on your journey. As the largest national park in Africa, Nyerere National Park is one of the most beautiful and game-rich areas in the Selous Game Reserve ecosystem, spanning the Rufiji River basin in southeastern Tanzania.
The Rufiji River is the park's most striking feature and provides an excellent natural setting for boat safaris. It is one of the few places in Africa where it is possible to view wildlife and birdlife directly from the water. During your boat safari, there is a great chance of spotting hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species such as the African fish eagle, malachite kingfisher, goliath heron, African skimmer, and Boehm's bee-eater. You may also spot Nile monitor lizards and monkeys, including the blue monkey, savannah baboon, and black-and-white colobus monkey, along the riverbanks.

I hope you are looking forward to the next leg of your journey.
Following breakfast at the lodge, you will be transferred to Ruaha National Park. Ruaha is an outstanding safari destination, showcasing a unique crossover of East and Southern African flora and fauna. A key reason for the abundance of wildlife here is the Great Ruaha River, which serves as a vital water source year-round, particularly during the dry season.
The park is home to large prides of lions, often numbering over twenty individuals. While leopards and cheetahs hunt on the open plains, you may also spot smaller species such as serval, caracal, genet, and banded wild cat. Other mammals thrive here in abundance; the elephant herds are massive, and you can expect to see plenty of buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and hippopotamus. Ruaha also boasts an exciting assortment of antelope, including roan, sable, eland, impala, gazelle, reedbuck, hartebeest, klipspringer, and the largest population of greater kudu in East Africa.

Walking Safari | Ruaha National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, you will embark on a 2 to 3-hour walking safari in the national park. Following the walk, you will enjoy a game safari until evening before returning for dinner and your overnight stay inside Ruaha National Park.
In the company of a knowledgeable guide, the walking safari offers a truly special and unique perspective of the park’s fascinating inhabitants. A not-to-be-missed attraction is the park’s towering baobabs, which stand vigil over the landscape and offer excellent photographic opportunities. Another prominent feature of Ruaha is the sparkling waterways, which attract an abundance of game. Please note that the best time to embark on a walking safari is in late June.
At this fantastic park, a magnificent line-up of game is on show. Predators abound, including lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog, and hyena. While walking, if you are quiet and stealthy, you may even get up close with impressive buffalo and elephant herds.

Day 6
Ruaha National Park | Dar es Salaam
Ruaha National Park | Dar es Salaam
Ruaha National Park, a predator-rich remote wilderness that is truly off the beaten track. Its remote location adds significantly to its appeal, leaving it wonderfully devoid of other travelers.
Ruaha offers superb big cat viewing, and we believe the quality of guiding there is among the best in the country. While it is often booked in conjunction with Nyerere National Park and described as ideal for experienced safari hands, we believe this park is perfect for anyone with an interest in true wilderness and big game viewing. There is no reason that this exceptional park should be ignored by adventurous safari novices.
Please note that at the conclusion of the trip, you will be dropped off at Dar es Salaam.
