Day 1

Momela gate to Miriakamba Huts

You will pass open grassland which you a good opportunity to see buffaloes, warthogs and other grazers. Moreover, you will also cross the ngare nanyuki river and continue climbing through a mountain forest. You get a chance to see all kinds of birds as well as black and blue monkeys.

Day 2

Miriakamba Huts to Saddle Huts

Miriakamba Huts to Saddle Huts

You will start early in the morning and ascent steeply through lush mountain forest full of birds till you reach the halfway point of elephant ridge. From this point you are able to see the crater. After arriving in saddle huts you will have lunch then go on a small hike up little meru (3820 M) for a sunset then return back to saddle huts for the night.

Day 3

Saddle Huts to Rhino Point to Peak to Rhino Point to Saddle huts to Miriakamba

This will be a very long day. You will start climbing between 1 to 2 at night. The route is very steep towards Rhino Point (3850 M) and from there towards the summit along very narrow ridge. You will reach the Mount Meru summit (4566M) right at the sunrise. The sceneries there are stunning, you will see Mount Kilimanjaro in close distance. After taking photos on the summit you will descent back to saddle hut.

Day 4

Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate

Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate

You will leave around 8:00 in the morning and descent to momella gate. On the way down you have a very good chance of seeing wildlife and ash cone. You will hike through forests and meadows all the way to the gate where a driver will be waiting for you.

Day 5

Arusha National Park

Arusha National Park

After you have finished hiking Mount Meru you may go on a game drive around Arusha National Park for a day.
Arusha National Park lies at the foot of Mount Meru. The park is famous for its green surroundings, lakes, unique sights and its black and white colobus monkey. This safari is a unique and thrilling experience to be up-close with wild animals something that is only possible in a few national parks.

The park doesn’t have large predators but hosts Africa’s largest giraffe population, a variety of primates and a number of large herbivores, baboons, velvet monkeys, Red Forest Duikers, the fascinating Abyssinian black and white Colobus monkeys and sometimes the leopard. More than 400 bird species have been verified in the park including Flamingos and other Eurasian migrants, which can be seen between October and April. Arusha National Park tour is throughout the year regardless of the rain season of April and May.
