Drive to Nyerere NP Village Tour & Sunset Boat Safari

On this day, you’ll be picked up from your hotel or the airport and begin your 3 to 4-hour drive to Nyerere National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll settle in and have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, you’ll visit Mloka Village for a cultural tour and a chance to experience local life. Around 4:00 PM, you’ll head out for a sunset boat safari along the Rufiji River. The two-hour cruise offers incredible views of hippos, crocodiles sunning on the banks, and a wide variety of birdlife, all set against a stunning sunset. After the safari, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay by the river.

Game Drive and Departure

After a full breakfast, you'll head out for a full-day game drive in the vast Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve). The park is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, buffaloes, lions, giraffes, zebras, and impalas all commonly seen. It’s also one of the best places in Tanzania to spot the rare African wild dogs.

Around midday, you’ll stop at a safe, scenic spot inside the park for a picnic lunch, giving you time to relax and enjoy the view while keeping an eye out for more animals. In the afternoon, at around 3:00 PM, you’ll begin the drive back to Dar es Salaam, where your driver will drop you off at your hotel or another location of your choice.
