Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Ruhija)

Today, your driver/guide will meet you at an agreed location in Entebbe or Kampala. At 8:00hrs start your drive to Ruhija. The drive is a long one about 9-10 hours but an interesting one with various stops at the equator, for lunch in Mbarara town. Enjoy the amazing landscape changes and the different districts. Feel free to ask your guide for stops whenever you want or there is something interesting.

First Gorilla Tracking and drive to Buhoma sector

After breakfast at the lodge, you will head to the park headquarters for briefing by park ranger guides, depart with picnic lunch boxes to start Gorilla trekking – the activity can last up to 4 hours trek or more to find the Mountain Gorillas as you hike up and down the slopes with dense mist covered vegetation. Hence you will have packed lunch for this activity. This active quest will eventually bring you to the face of one of the most sought after creatures-the mountain Gorillas. Upon reaching them, you will have a full hour with them while observing and learning their behavior as you take photos. After return to the vehicle and head to Buhoma sector. The drive is about 1-2 hours, arrive at the park in the late afternoon and check in.

Second Gorilla tracking and Visit the Batwa People

Another gorilla tracking day, at another sector. Like the other day, prepare for a trek, have you turdy shoes on, report to the centre (park offices) for a briefing and head into the forest for gorilla tracking again. Return have your certificates and after we go to the lodge to refresh. Depending on the time, you can visit the local Batwa people. The Batwa were forest people who survived on hunting and gathering but when the conservation of gorillas was started on 1991, they were evicted. Now they live with the rest of the community.
