Nairobi-Amboseli National Park

You will be driven south to Amboseli National Park via Nairobi, with game viewing en route while the immense grandeur of Mt Kilimanjaro is in the background. Lunch will be at the Lodge in Amboseli. Amboseli National Park provides the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery, it is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro which is 5,896 meters. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of elephants which can be viewed up close accompanied by lions, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboon, gazelle, hippo, and wildebeest. There are also over 400 species of birds, as well as all manner of reptilian, flora, and fauna. Dinner and overnight stay will be at the lodge.

Enjoy a full day at this famous reserve searching for wild game with an option to enjoy a balloon safari at an extra cost. You can carry picnic lunch or have lunch at the camp. A visit to Masai villages is also an option. Return to the camp in the evening. The Mara is the land of African legend. Lion is abundant throughout the park, as are elephants, giraffes, and a variety of gazelle species and zebra. Cheetah and leopard are also regularly seen and, less commonly, rhino.

You will be taken on two game drives on the third day, in the morning before breakfast and in the late afternoon. Early mornings and late afternoons are considered the best time to spot animals as they are most active. To get some of the best game viewing of the day, an early start is needed to beat the heat of the sun. This is the time that the big cats are most active and can provide some of the most dramatic photography, thanks to the beautiful lighting. The reserve is famous for the wildebeests migration.
