Day 1

Arrival in Johannesburg and Fly to Skukuza

Arrival in Johannesburg and Fly to Skukuza

On arrival at Skukuza Airport, your game ranger will meet you and transfer you in an open safari vehicle to Mala Mala Game Reserve. This 40 min transfer doubles as a game drive as it takes you through the reserve to the camp.

On arrival at camp, you will be given a brief introduction to the lodge and activities. You will have time to freshen up before lunch which will be served on the deck overlooking a dry riverbed.

After lunch, you will have time to relax and enjoy the camp's offerings.

You will be met by your ranger for afternoon tea whereafter you will set off on a game drive to find some of Africa's wildlife. Sundowners and snacks will be scheduled at a place in the bush where the magnificent African sunset can be enjoyed.

You will return to the lodge ensuring that you have enough time to freshen up before dinner. A superb dinner prepared by the executive chef will be served on the deck. A boma dinner will also be arranged for one of the nights.

You will wake up very early by your ranger for your morning safari.

Before you head out, you will enjoy coffee and rusks on the deck.

During the morning drive, you will stop in the bush to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee. Snacks will also be served while you chat about the morning's sightings.

On return to the lodge, a hearty brunch will be served.

After brunch, you can indulge in some of the offerings at Mala Mala. Maybe take a dip in the pool or treat yourself to one of the spa treatments offered.

Day 4

Fly from Malamala to Johannesburg

Fly from Malamala to Johannesburg

After brunch, you will have time to pack and then be transferred back to Skukuza Airport for your scheduled flight to Johannesburg.

On arrival in Johannesburg, you will be transferred to The Michelangelo in Sandton.

An afternoon activity can be arranged if need be. Otherwise, you can spend the afternoon relaxing at the hotel or doing some shopping in one of South Africa's most exclusive shopping centers - Sandton City Shopping Centre.

Your dinner venue will be recommended and reserved for you by your guide.

For those who have never been to Johannesburg, you might want to try the Butcher Shop and Grill in Nelson Mandela Square for dinner. This is a world-famous restaurant that serves superb steaks.

Day 5

The Rovos Rail Luxury Train

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Pretoria Station where your transport to Cape Town awaits.

Enjoy some downtime in the Rovos Rail Exclusive lounge while you wait to board your home for the next three nights.

Exceptional train safaris combine some of Africa’s most magnificent scenery with travel aboard an authentically refurbished Edwardian-style train, accommodating guests in the most spacious train suites in the world, each with its own en-suite bathroom and subtle modern conveniences.

You will depart Rovos Rail Station, Pretoria late morning. Travel across the goldfields of the Witwatersrand. You may freshen up in their suites before joining fellow travelers in the lounge car and observation car. Lunch is served in the dining cars. Tea is served in the lounge and observation cars. Dinner is served in the dining cars en route to Kingswood. Your overnight stay will be on board.

Lunch is served in the dining cars.

You will enjoy a tour of Kimberley’s Diamond Mine Museum and the Big Hole. Capital of the Northern Cape, Kimberley is
well known for the discovery of diamonds that led to its establishment in 1871.

Your dinner is served in the dining cars. Your overnight stay will be on board. Dress: Formal.

Day 7

Breakfast is served in the dining cars until 10:00 am.
The train travels through the Karoo, a vast semi-desert region that was once an enormous inland sea. Over millions of years, volcanic matter was ground down and deposited as silt upon the seabed to form what geologists call the Karoo system.

Lunch is served in the dining cars. After lunch, you can disembark the train at Whitehill Siding and walk the 5km into Matjiesfontein for an opportunity to stroll through the historic village. A member of staff will accompany the group.

Tea in the lounge and observation cars.
About an hour after Matjiesfontein, the train arrives at the first of four tunnels on the pass. The first tunnel is 13.5km
long so guests are to be careful when walking through the train and may wish to turn on necessary lights.
Dinner is served as the train climbs ±750m down the escarpment towards Worcester. Dress: Formal.

The train travels through the Hex River Valley.
You will arrive at the journey’s end at Cape Town Station.
Once you have disembarked, you will take your private transfer to The Table Bay Hotel.

Today, you will explore Cape Town City, voted as one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

You will visit the new and old city as we experience the various cultures and architectural designs associated with this historical city. A trip by cable car up Table Mountain will present a spectacular aerial perspective of the city.

In the city, you will uncover the history of European settlement in South Africa - founded in 1652, this city has an interesting history that includes indigenous, Dutch, and British settlement. Situated at the steep slopes of Table Mountain, Devil’s Peak, Lion's Head and Signal Hill, Cape Town City is sure to excite your senses.

A scenic helicopter flight over Robben Island and the Atlantic seaboard can be arranged as an option.

Day 10

Today, you will experience some of the most spectacular views in the world.

There are plenty to see and do along the route and your private Cape Town Guide will explain the options. Activities will include traveling along Chapman’s Peak Drive, one of the country’s most famous scenic drives, taking a walk through the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, viewing the historical lighthouses, and of course, the main stop of the day is the view site at Cape Point itself.

From Cape Point, you will make your way back along the False Bay to Simon’s Town to view the African Penguins, you will get right up close to these adorable creatures that populate the beach in their hundreds. Boulders Beach has become world-renowned for its penguin colony and should not be missed!

After breaking for lunch, you will travel back to Cape Town via Fishhoek and Muizenberg.

Lastly, you will visit the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens which have been described as the most beautiful Gardens in Africa!

Day 11

Depart Cape Town

Today will largely depend on the group dynamic.

Perhaps some shopping in Long Street and the V&A Waterfront while the men tour a microbrewery such as Woodstock Brewery or Devils Peak Brewery.

We can also arrange a Lions Head hike or an easier hike that fits the group, go Gin Tasting in Woodstock or go for a bicycle ride along the promenade, etc. We will discuss these options with the group earlier on in the program and facilitate accordingly.

The day will however remain flexible.

You will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport in time for your evening flight.
