3-Day Nyerere NP Fly in and Fly out to Zanzibar

Zanzibar to Nyerere National Park

In the morning, your driver will pick you up from Selous Airstrip and you will have a short break for a hot lunch in Africa Safari Selous (Banda Bungalow). The journey to the Rufiji River will begin. In the afternoon, your boat safari will begin along the mighty Great Rufiji River.

Boat safari brings you into close contact with hippos, crocodiles, and fantastic birdlife. Animals make their way to the river to drink and boats may approach elephants, waterbuck, and others on the river banks to within a few meters. Crocodiles glide into the water as your boat approaches and hippos appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam.

Nyerere National Park

After breakfast in the morning, you will enjoy a full-day game drive by a modified safari vehicle with a professional guide. Great animal sightings include all the great favorites lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, and all the other major species including the now-rare African hunting dog. You will also see a large variety of birds, and wonderful scenery with varied topography including wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest, and higher ground with vast views of far-off mountains. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a packed lunch and some time to rest. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink, in the evening you will head back to the lodge for a delicious sunset dinner when you’re ready and then retire for the night.

Nyerere National Park to Zanzibar Island

Today will be ‘departure day.’ An early morning tea or coffee will be served at the lodge before breakfast and heading out. You will start the day earlier on a game walk. Accompanied by an experienced guide and an armed ranger, walk out into Africa’s largest wilderness, learn about the complex ecosystem that it embraces, encounter the thrills, and be enthralled by the wonder of being at the heart of nature. You will return to the lodge for a splendid breakfast after breakfast you will depart for the airport. Your guide will drop you at the airport ready to fly out to Zanzibar.
