Day 2

Enjoy breakfast before checking out and beginning your journey to the Maasai Mara (approximately 5–6 hours’ drive). You will arrive in time for lunch, after which you can take some time to relax and acclimatize to the African wilderness. Following afternoon tea, set out at 4:00 pm for your first game drive, searching for the Big Five lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhinoceros roaming the expansive savannahs. The Maasai Mara forms part of the Mara-Serengeti Ecosystem, famous for its annual migration of over a million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebras, all moving in search of greener pastures. At dawn, set out on a sunrise game drive across the Maasai Mara, as the first light spills over the savannah and wildlife begins to stir. Each morning offers new surprises; no two drives are ever the same. Predators may be seen at a fresh kill, making an early start truly worthwhile. After a few hours of exploring, drive back to camp (game drives typically involve 2–4 hours of driving within the park), observing grazing animals before the midday heat drives them into the shade of acacia trees and thick bush. Tarangire is renowned for its large elephant population and iconic baobab trees. During the dry season, herds of elephants gather along the Tarangire River, creating unforgettable wildlife encounters.
