Your adventure commences at 6:30 a.m. from your Dar es Salaam hotel to Nyerere National Park. Upon arrival, the afternoon boat trip sets sail at 4:00 p.m., returning at 6:30 p.m. It's an idyllic voyage offering a picturesque view of the Rufiji River, teeming with hippos, crocodiles, and vibrant birdlife. The stunning sunset seen from the boat adds an extraordinary touch to the tranquil river setting.
The Rufiji, a broad river with several branching lakes, presents a unique perspective, allowing exploration and sightings of its notable residents - crocodiles and hippos.
For bird enthusiasts, the boat safari is a prime excursion. With over 350 bird species in the park, the river becomes a congregating hub for these diverse species, easily observed in the open surroundings.
Daring to fish? The waters here host ferocious tigerfish and hefty catfish in abundance, offering an opportunity to test your angling skills.

Nyerere national park full game drive
During a full-day game drive in the park, an experienced safari guide will highlight the park's rarest animal species, including wild dogs, sable antelopes, black rhinoceros, Nile crocodiles, hippopotamuses along the Rufiji River banks, Cape buffalos, hartebeests, and elands. Enjoy a picnic lunch and beverages in the wilderness before returning to the camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Nyerere National park to Dar es salam
You will have an early morning breakfast at the camp and start a sunrise bush walking safari. Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. It’s an unforgettable experience to walk within such a vast and untamed area of natural reserve. The walks take about 2-3 hours long. Usually walks leave camp at 6:00 am-6:30 am, after having a cup of tea and some homemade biscuits or doughnuts. You will then drive back to Dar es Salaam.
