The name "Serengeti" means "endless plains," and this iconic landscape is home to over two million wildebeest and a rich diversity of wildlife.
From January to April, the plains come alive as wildebeest, plains zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles give birth to their young, attracting large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas that follow the migration in search of prey. The region is also teeming with smaller creatures, including rock hyraxes, bat-eared foxes, mongooses, honey badgers, jackals, monkeys, baboons, and African hares. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by the presence of over 500 species.
