Fly from O.R. Tambo Johannesburg International Airport to Eastgate Airport (1 hour, 5 minutes) in the Kruger National Park, where you will be met and greeted for your onward road transfer of approximately 2 hours. You will be welcomed at the exclusive Simbavati Hilltop Lodge, one of the finest settings in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve, an unfenced but private part of the Kruger Park. It is perched on the hillside with wide-angle views over the bush and distant mountains of the Drakensberg escarpment. Below lies the expansive Mbali Dam and the Nhlaralumi River, where you may see elephant and other wildlife who come to quench their thirst. Hilltop Lodge has a light footprint, purposely designed so that it can be removed without leaving any lasting impact on the land. This luxurious tented lodge has a romantic, bright and airy ambience with 8 spacious tented suites connected by wooden walkways to the main lodge. Settle in for your first game driving before sundowners and dinner.

Embark on an Enchanting Adventure at Simbavati Hilltop Lodge
Awake at sunrise to the murmurs of the wild before going on your first morning 4x4 game drive in the bush. You will be accompanied by your qualified and highly experienced English-speaking guide, who works closely with a tracker from the local Shangaan community. This duo pools their knowledge with fresh observations to maximize your wildlife sightings. Guests sit high for the best spotting of all birds and animals. The tracker, seated in the hot seat at the front of the vehicle, tunes into clues offered by the bush. It may be the spoor of a big cat on the hunt, or perhaps a fresh scent mark on a shrub, a muddy patch on a tree left by an itchy rhino, or a tell-tale sign where a kill has been dragged into the bush. Return to the camp for breakfast before spending the morning at the pool or viewing deck. Lunch is served at 1 pm, followed by a swim or nap. There is also a gym and bush walks on offer before the evening's game drive. Then, return to the camp for a boma dinner (included).

Go on an early morning game drive (approximately 2 hours), have breakfast, chat with local staff, read a good book, and swim before lunch. You are now in the beat of the African "bush", relaxed but alert to the passing sights, sounds and smells. Immerse yourself in this privileged environment whilst slowing down to the natural rhythm of safari life. Lunch is served before another swim, and then it is time to track that elusive leopard on your afternoon game drive. Sunset drinks are an integral part of being on safari. Your guide will choose a suitable, beautiful spot where you can stretch your legs and enjoy a drink or two, one of the iconic African memories of a safari. Stop at sunset for a sundowner in the savannah before returning to camp for dinner in the boma of Hilltop Lodge. Enjoy traditional local dishes cooked over an open fire - try African delicacies such as pap and chakalaka. This is a meat-eater heaven. However, vegetarians will be well-catered.

Start your morning with an exhilarating safari, where you'll explore the bush as the day awakens, spotting wildlife and enjoying the serene landscapes. After your game drive, return to the lodge for a delicious brunch, reflecting on the morning's adventures and savoring freshly prepared dishes. Following brunch, you'll transfer back to Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Johannesburg or Cape Town.
