After breakfast in Kigali, you will travel to Lake Mulehe in Kisoro, Uganda. Kisoro lies beneath the high peaks of the Mufumbiro Mountains, part of the Virunga Mountains where the endangered mountain gorillas live. Visitors to Kisoro can enjoy mountain views, explore Lake Mulehe, visit local markets, and try volcano trekking. This town is the closest base to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and a gateway for travelers going to Rwanda or the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for gorilla tracking in Volcanoes National Park or Virunga National Park.

Day 2

Enjoy an early breakfast and then head to the park’s briefing center, where you will meet the ranger guides. They will give you information about golden monkey tracking and explain how to behave around the monkeys. After the trek, return to the lodge for a tasty lunch and spend the afternoon relaxing at your own pace.

Day 3
Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The name says it all—this is a place of thick, dense forest and steep mountains. Covering 331 square kilometers, Bwindi is one of Africa’s oldest forests. It has survived for thousands of years, even through the last Ice Age when many other forests vanished.
When you arrive, you will be warmly welcomed at the lodge, where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful views of the wide forest.

Day 4

Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Start your day with a good breakfast to prepare for the adventures ahead. Take your packed lunch and head to the nearby park headquarters. Here, you will get a full briefing, be assigned to your Gorilla group, and then begin your trek into the forest. The trek in Bwindi can last between 2 and 8 hours, depending on where the gorillas are.
Once you find the gorillas, you will have up to 1 hour to watch and take photos of them. After the trek, enjoy your lunch and receive your official Gorilla trekking certificate. Then, meet your guide and travel back to the lodge.

Day 5
Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & Evening Boat Trip

Begin your day with a transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park in Kasese. This park is home to nearly 100 mammal species and over 600 types of birds. You may see large groups of hippos, forest hogs, and Uganda kobs, often found near the tourist villages on the Mweya Peninsula, located by the Rwenzori Mountains.
When you arrive at Queen Elizabeth (Mweya Sector), enjoy an evening boat ride on the Kazinga Channel. This natural waterway connects Lake Edward and Lake George and is a key feature of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. On the boat ride, you will see hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and many birds. The pelicans on the shore and birds flying above make a memorable sight.
After the boat trip, return to your lodge for a peaceful night in the heart of the African Savannah.

Day 6

Start your day with breakfast in the African wilderness, overlooking the Savannah. Enjoy a second game drive to see more wildlife, including lions, leopards, and many birds. Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to over 500 bird species, making it a great place for bird watchers.
After a 4 to 5-hour drive, return to your lodge for rest and lunch. Be sure to charge your camera batteries for an exciting chimpanzee trek at Kyambura Gorge, also called the “Valley of Apes.” This gorge, part of Queen Elizabeth National Park in southwestern Uganda, offers beautiful views and rich wildlife.
After lunch, head into the gorge for your chimpanzee trek, then return to your lodge for the night.

Day 7

Start your day with breakfast in the African wilderness, then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale, arriving in time for lunch. You will spend your afternoon at leisure and later enjoy a boat trip to some of the lake’s 29 islands, including the famous Akampene, also known as "Punishment Island."
