Drive from Arusha to Tarangire National Park

After breakfast at around 8:00 am, our safari guide picks you from your accommodations and drive to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours). The park is named after the Tarangire River which runs through it. The river is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. In some places, the vegetation is quite dense, including elephant grass, acacia woodlands and lush groundwater forest. Sometimes herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen around the Tarangire River, drinking from the shallows or enjoying a cooling mud bath. Huge herds of elephant are a distinctive feature of Tarangire so are many massive baobab trees, grassland, swamps and floodplains found here. It is home to big cats, giraffe, baboons and hippo and many, many more species. Tree-climbing lions and rock pythons are other local specialties. Later you will proceed to your accommodation for dinner and overnight.
