Begin your adventure early on Day 1 by transferring from Arusha to the airport for a domestic flight to Kigoma. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch before taking a scenic boat ride across Lake Tanganyika to Gombe Stream National Park. After settling into your lodge or camp, you may have time for a short forest walk or a visit to Jane Goodall’s research center. Relax with dinner overlooking the lake and prepare for the exciting days ahead.

Day 2

On Day 2, rise early for breakfast and a briefing from your expert guides before embarking on your first chimpanzee trekking experience. Spend the morning trekking through the forest in search of chimpanzee families and other fascinating primates, with an opportunity to visit the stunning Kakombe Waterfall if time allows. After returning to your lodge for lunch, you can unwind by the lake or enjoy a guided nature or bird walk. End the day soaking in the sunset on the shores of Lake Tanganyika with a delicious dinner at your accommodation.

Day 3 offers an optional second chance for chimpanzee trekking or a leisurely forest walk to spot other wildlife species. Later, you will take the boat back to Kigoma, where you can visit the historic Ujiji village, famous for the Livingstone Memorial, before spending the night at a comfortable hotel in Kigoma.

Day 4

On the morning of Day 4, transfer to Kigoma airport for your flight back to Arusha, possibly connecting through Dar es Salaam or Kilimanjaro depending on the schedule. Upon arrival, you will be driven to the Karatu Area, a journey of about two hours, where you will check into your lodge. Spend the evening unwinding, enjoying dinner, and receiving a briefing for the next day’s safari.

Day 5

Your final day begins early with a descent into the stunning Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. Search for the famous Big Five, hippos in the crater’s lakes, and a variety of birdlife including flamingoes. Enjoy a picnic lunch within this spectacular natural amphitheater before ascending back to the crater rim in the afternoon and embarking on a road transfer back to Arusha. The itinerary concludes with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
